"Breathing out is just as important as breathing in.”

It was a day in the life of a creative. The sun shone through the large bay window and it found its way to my fingers just where I sat at my table drawing. It felt good to be here doing what I love with no distractions. Every once in a while when I look up from my work there's a sense that something isn't right, that I should be doing something else instead, something more 'worthwhile'...but when I take another breath in this feeling goes away for a moment before coming back again stronger than before. But soon enough these thoughts are gone as well, until eventually all is calm and quiet except for me breathing out each stress one by one on the blank canvas before me....

I've worked on this illustration a few weeks back and I've only just managed to post it now. A bit later than I would have liked, but I was so super overloaded with work that time got away from me. Well, better late than never right?
It's a really fun, vibrant digital poster/print that is also available as a greeting card. I really enjoyed making this piece; I wanted a 'retro-futuristic style meets Islamic-traditional' feel because....why not. I love both styles of art and I wanted to put them together. Are you ready for a Ramadan Recharge? With only just over a month left for our blessed month to arrive, I find myself - as usual - feeling unprepared. Yes…I should have started preparing myself spiritually way before hand right? But praise be to Allah, there is still some time left for me to salvage. The month of Rajab is ending soon, and Sha’ban is making an appearance. I reckon I can use those last few days of Rajab and the first few weeks of Sha’baan to turn it around Insha’allah (God Willing). Remember, it’s never too late to fix it. Establish a spiritual routine; maybe try and fast Mondays and Thursdays to get you going for Ramadan. Also, if you can try to get a bulk of your work done before the holy month starts, then do so to lessen the load. If it’s not that kind of a job you have, then the best thing is to try and work out what routine is best for you. Right…I better get cracking with sowing my seeds and irrigating my crop at the SAME time lol (since I’m about a month late for the sowing 😅). It’s doable…I know it is 💪🏼

The beginning of a new month always gives me hope of a better start. A kind of renewal. Wether it be a new health goal, business goal, or just to give myself a reason or excuse to better myself in some way. I'm glad that I believe in new month renewals...because I have to be completely honest, I can really get lost in all the madness that is my life at the moment. This gives me a chance to pause, recuperate and take a breather. The bonus this month is that it's the perfect spring entrance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So my daughter has been bugging me for ages to draw a Kawaii version of her and I simply just didn't have the time. After a few weeks of silence on the matter, she spotted me sketching out some ideas in my sketchbook 🤦‍♀️. I knew I couldn't dodge her request any longer lol. Plus I kinda missed drawing in that style, so I agreed to do a gaming one for her. Yes. She's a keen gamer just like her mother. What's that famous quote? "The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree"?? Lol. So I listened to her demands closely and I came up with her very own Kawaii Caricature, sporting her favourite gaming headset and hat 😋. One thing I'm thankful for though, even though she loooves her switch, she eats up books for breakfast lunch and dinner. Best of both I guess 😎 🎮 📚⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
