'Pantry notes', as thoughtfully put by Rita Konig

A well-considered pantry or scullery can completely transform how a kitchen works and feels. A few simple takeaways:

• Keep it separate, if you can — it allows the main kitchen to remain calm and uncluttered
• Let it do the heavy lifting — prep, washing up, and storage all tucked away
• Prioritise generous storage — shelves, cupboards and baskets are key
• Be playful with colour — smaller spaces are perfect for bolder choices
• Maintain a sense of connection — glazed doors or visual links keep it feeling open

Functional, yes — but also an opportunity to bring personality into the everyday ✨

Alright… I admit it — more teal

But this is a masterclass by Sarah Vanrenen in how to be truly brave with colour and pattern.

Strong geometry, layered textiles, and that confident use of teal and green — all balanced so the space feels rich and full of personality, never fussy. It’s the mix that makes it sing: traditional pieces pushed just far enough to feel fresh and unexpected.

A reminder that playing it safe rarely creates something memorable

All in the name of teal… just one more, I promise

A beautiful scheme by Penny Morrison — where fresh, contemporary colour meets the depth and character of fine brown furniture.

The teal brings lightness and clarity, while the antique desk and layered textures ground the space, creating that perfect balance and juxtaposition between old and new.

It’s this tension that makes a room feel alive — considered, but never overworked.

Gorgeous (and yes… moving away from teal next post!)

All in the name of teal.

A masterclass by Rose Uniacke in how to use colour with quiet confidence. Soft, enveloping walls and curtains create a calm, cocooning backdrop, while natural textures and warm timbers keep the space grounded.

It’s the balance that makes it — strength in the architecture, softness in the palette, and just enough contrast to let everything breathe.

Proof that one colour, used well, can say everything

Another recent collage, this time for a grand entrance hall.

With a Victorian tiled floor and strong architectural features, the scheme leans into a sense of scale and presence — anchored by a large antique hall table with chunky lamps and silk shades, softly echoing the rich brick tones of the floor.

The client loves teal/celadon, so we’ve introduced this gently through details — like the verdigris tones of a Jamb globe lantern — adding depth without overpowering the space.

A balance of strength and softness, tradition and subtle colour.

I always love designing children’s bedrooms — they’re such special spaces to create.

This is a recent collage for a little girl’s room in Richmond. A gentle mix of colour, comfort and texture, designed to feel calm, personal and full of warmth.

It’s so important that a child’s room reflects their own identity — somewhere they feel proud of, somewhere that feels truly theirs. Most of all, it should be a place where they feel safe, settled and completely at ease.

Current obsession: Diango Hernández.

A Cuban-born conceptual artist whose work explores memory, politics, landscape and identity, often expressed through rhythmic lines, colour fields and poetic abstraction. His recurring wave motif (“Olaismo”) reflects ideas of movement, change and the fluid nature of culture and history.

The bittersweet moment of discovering a new artist… now I want one of his works. Some people collect shoes; I collect Art.

A symphony of pattern creates depth and texture, balancing tradition with a fresh, modern energy. Bravo

‘Magnolia’ wallpaper by GP & J Baker is an iconic pattern, originally launched in 1913. I love how Salvesen Graham have used it here; disrupted by the chair from Studio Atkinson, upholstered in Salvesen Graham’s ‘Genevieve’ fabric, adding another layer of pattern and personality.

A confident mix that feels both classic and fresh. So clever.

Love these wallpapers by Marthe Armitage, whose beautifully understated wallpapers and fabrics are entirely hand-drawn and hand-printed using traditional lino block techniques. Inspired by nature, her patterns have a timeless rhythm, each print with its own subtle character.
