Mustard yellow isn't exactly a neutral shade, but my client was really keen on it (and quite afraid too!). So we tried many different mustard shades on the wall, and as he was about to pick a more subtle (and honestly kind of boring 🙈) mustard, I asked him if it made his heart sing. He said "no, but I am afraid I'll get tired of a strong yellow!" To which I replied: "Well, I think you have more chances of getting tired of a colour you are not so keen, than getting tired of the colour you love!". So he went for it - and I'm happy to report that quite a few months later he told me he loves the colour even more each day! ❤️
I think there Is a lesson in life here: make choices out of love, not fear.

It took us a while, and finally here it is - the bedroom reveal! The original plan was to change the bed, as I would prefer a lower headboard, with a rounder shape and a green speckled wool fabric. But as it often happens in life, not everything goes to plan and I had to make do with what we had - and embrace the existing charcoal bed. So the right choice of bedlinen was essential (white options where out!) and I spent a long time photoshoping quite a few options with different colours. The khaki green duvet and pillows with the thin black stripes and check added interest, and made it consistent with the other black elements in the room. To complement the pattern mix and bring more colour I added a couple of William Morris cushions. The red table lamps proved yet again the Unexpected Red Theory (check it out if you haven't heard of it!). And of course, a vintage piece to give more soul to the room (the corner desk/cabinet by gplan). And voilà!
