Grab a cuppa, this is a long one, but it’s important.

Join me on my walk to work on a soggy October morning, watching Hampstead wake up, while I tell you about something quite scary that happened to us this week.

Someone has set up a live mirror of our website. Not just a copy, a live feed of the real thing, so it looks exactly like shopfodder.COM, right down to the last product and photo, updating in real time. You could look at it and never know. The only difference is where your money and your details go, and it isn’t to us.

Because the page itself looks identical, the one thing to trust is the web address. Our only website is shopfodder.COM. If the address in the bar is anything else, even a tiny bit different, close the tab, however convincing the page looks.

A couple more things to keep you safe, especially heading into Christmas:

Type shopfodder.COM in yourself, or use the link in our bio, rather than clicking through from elsewhere.

The last of Sophie Alda this year.

Sophie has been with us since we opened seven years ago, and she has never stopped being one of our best-selling potters. This is her final restock of the year, so what’s on the shelves now is what there is until 2027.

The Rocket Vase is the one I’d never be without, a staple since the very beginning. Big blooms or simple stems, it always tells a story. The Dot Cups are the ones that end up everywhere, the best water cup on a festive table, a pen pot that lifts a grey desk, the only toothbrush holder worth looking at.

A couple of pieces are already nearly gone, two hollyhock vases left and one Crosshatch Flower Jug, which has been the surprise of the year.

Sophie works in clay, paper, paint and print from her studio in Bristol, and you can see all of it in the ceramics. The colour is never careful, the shapes hold space in their own right.

Now on the site, and just one of each. A pair of low cake stands from Selwyn House, each turned from a single piece of wood in their Northamptonshire workshop. One in London Plane, one in fumed oak.

The London Plane has a striking lacewood grain, fine flecks and rays that the wide surface shows off beautifully. The fumed oak is something else entirely. Fuming draws the colour deep into the wood rather than sitting on the surface, giving a rich, warm brown and bringing the grain right to the fore.

Same form, two very different characters. Each has a low turned foot to lift your bakes and a fine rim to keep them from sliding on the way to the table, with a food-safe finish so they're made to be used. There's a matching cake knife too, if you fancy making a set of it.

Autumn essentials, as they look on the shelves right now.

October arrived and the shop changed with it. Bay and rosemary for the perfect Sunday scent, wafts of woodsmoke and candlelight for the evenings in.

Clare Halifax's screen-printed riverscapes capture some of my favourite London autumn walks, ready for your walls.

Pumpkin garlands and embroidered veg napkins for the table.

New in on the rail: Caroline Dickinson's hand-printed shirts.

Each shirt starts as a preloved cotton or denim menswear shirt, sourced one at a time and hand screen-printed in Caroline's South London studio. No two are the same, right down to the way the print lands on a collar, a cuff, a pocket.

They're exactly the kind of thing to reach for as the weather turns. Layered over a jumper, worn open, or on their own. And because there's only ever one of each, once a shirt goes, it's gone.

Hello October, and hello to all the new faces who've found us lately.

I'm Luci. Seven years ago I left the art world to start Fodder, because I kept coming back to one idea: that a handmade mug or bowl deserves the same appreciation as anything framed on a gallery wall.

There's so much in a handmade object that a mass-produced one can never hold. The slight unevenness of a rim thrown by hand. A glaze that broke differently in the kiln to every other piece. The quiet fact that a real person, somewhere, made the thing you reach for every morning. Once you start noticing it, it's hard to go back.

That's what Fodder is for. Over thirty independent UK makers, and everything in the shop made by hand, to be used and lived with every day.

Whether you've been here for years or found us last week, I'm really glad you're here.

The last day of September, and the last day that 20% of all sales from our Hope Collection is donated to Hope Unlimited Charitable Trust.

Brutes responded to the rise of AI in the most human way there is. Emma fingerprinted an entire collection of pastel vessels by hand, every mark a person pressed into the clay, a celebration of the irreplaceable human touch in making. Hope, made visible one fingerprint at a time.
