This neglected garden ornament is actually a very collectible vintage 1970s ceramic vase produced by Jasba Ceramics in West Germany.  Part of the “Aztec” or “Maya Tiki” range, featuring a textured, dark glaze with raised geometric and stylized animal patterns inspired by ancient civilizations.  Form: A bulbous, amphora-style vessel with two handles and a narrow neck.  Historical Context: These vases are a prominent example of Mid-Century Modern “Fat Lava” pottery, highly sought after by collectors. Thank goodness has a keen eye and rescued this beauty - a little tlc and it’ll be back to its former glory an ready for a new owner.
