Big news from the studio…
After realizing our pottery wheels were making too much sensory noise, we’ve reached the final frontier of mindful making.

🌀 MUNI MUTE: Silent Pottery Sessions 🌀
No music. No talking. No wheel sounds. (The wheels have been replaced with manual hand-cranked stone slabs for a 100% acoustic experience).
THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:
• ✉️ Communication: Strictly via handwritten notes passed on recycled clay scraps. Do not breathe too loudly while writing.
• 👩🏻‍🏫 Instruction: Our teachers are banned from speaking and will now provide technical feedback through heavy eye contact and interpretive contemporary dance.
• 🔥 The Kiln: Currently undergoing a ‘vow of silence’. Any firing crackle will result in immediate disqualification and a public (silent) shaming of the piece.
• 🧦 Movement: Please wear socks. We find the sound of shoes on the floor highly distracting to the clay’s inner peace.
• 🚫 Zero Tolerance: Sneezing is strictly prohibited. Dropping a tool results in immediate disgrace and studio exile.
It’s not just pottery. It’s an endurance test for your soul.

In the spirit of the Chelsea Flower Show we’re bringing the flowers into the studio too! Just for a weekend though so book soon to avoid missing out.

Join us for a joyful session of coil-building + flower making 🌸

You’ll create your own hand-built vase and decorate it with blooms using our very special collection of floral moulds & cutters (trust us, they’re dreamy).

Sessions on Saturday 24 May 3.30pm to 6.00pm and Sunday 25 May 12.30pm to 3.00pm.

Ever wondered what happens to your pottery after your session at Muni London? Each piece goes through several essential phases before it’s ready for collection:

1️⃣ Drying – Your piece needs to dry completely to avoid cracks or explosions in the kiln. This can take over a week, depending on thickness and humidity.

2️⃣ Bisque Firing 🔥 (1000°C) – Once dry, your pottery goes through its first firing, turning it from clay into ceramic. This makes it strong yet porous enough to absorb glaze.

3️⃣ Glazing 🎨 – We carefully apply glaze to your piece, giving it color, texture, and a glass-like finish.

4️⃣ Glaze Firing 🔥 (1260°C) – The final step! Your pottery is fired again at a higher temperature, melting the glaze into a smooth, durable surface.

From start to finish, this process takes about 4-6 weeks, but trust us—it’s worth the wait!
