Check out this fabulous place setting in "Royal Lily" by Royal Worcester with its kidney shaped side plates, which date all the way back to the 1880s https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1287479639/3-piece-place-setting-c1880s-royal

In the 19th century, these 'kidney' or 'half-moon' shaped plates would typically be used as a bone dish, to discard meat or fish bones during the meal. These days however, they work just as well as a side plate for vegetables or salad.

They fell out of fashion around the 1920s, but we here at Silverthorne think they are long overdue a revival!

Mirror mirror on the wall.... you're the fairest of them all.

The art nouveau visual is originally from a beer advert from 1897 called 'Bieres de la Meuse" although the mirror is vintage from the 1970s.
