It’s my favourite time of the year the rhs Chelsea flower show including the shops nearby decorated with beautiful florals and structures for Chelsea in bloom. I was asked by fortnums again as a nod to this and create something around the statue above the entrance with the theme being out of this world. When thinking about which flowers to use it’s tricky as I to have to factor in its on the canopy on the 1st floor, so its access which is restricting from a design aspect and also flowers that I don’t have to refresh or change and that will last a week but still have impact. I chose Amaranths for its texture and is associated with immortality & long life and its ability to retain its beauty aswell to signify eternal love & enduring friendships. With the theme in mind, I’m thinking planets and with it’s bright yellow spherical shape I went for Craspedia and that represents good health, joy, unity and togetherness. A gorgeous pop of colour with big beautiful purple alliums again for the spherical shape and they represent unity, patience, humility and prosperity. We often associate flowers with so many of these words and it’s how we connect them and ourselves with nature and how it heals. Having the beehives on the roof, choosing alliums give the bees lots of pollen & nectar to forage and the florets make it easier for the bees to land without getting over tired, so happiness all round. The flowers will be on display until the early part of next week so if you’re in town you can even grab a seat and an Ice Cream on the first floor fortnums parlour and get a closer look. Enjoy all the beautiful flowers and creativity of so many talented individuals taking part x
