Korea buys more Span Leg tables than Denmark (and is also the most requested wedding gift).

Wednesday night at Heal's, 'Celebrating Scandinavian Design' brought together four brilliant panelists - Christian Andresen (), (), Ross Dickens (gubiofficial) and () - for a conversation that went well beyond aesthetics.

Democratic design. Heritage that stays relevant. The quiet but powerful way our homes shape our children.

This is why great design matters.

Last Sunday it was already 3pm by the time I disentangled myself from the kids, hopped on the tube and headed over to the final day of the Hyakkō exhibition at . With tickets sold out, I decided to take a chance.

And I'm so glad that I did.

It was inspiring going behind the scenes to see how objects, which look so simple, require so much patience, skill and dedication to achieve the final result.

The slowness and ritual of the process struck me the most and felt like an antidote to our busy, rushed world.

So next time you think you've missed the opportunity, hop on that tube and take a chance. You never know what you might find!

Oh, and Japanese toilets are a must-try!

I spent this morning with planning something I've wanted to do for a while - my very first supper club. It felt like we'd been doing this together for years. Two generations between us, but the same obsession with beautiful tableware and good food. A stroll through Brompton Cemetery was a lovely end to an inspiring morning.

This week we welcomed a new addition to our family: Luna, our re-homed cocker spaniel. There was a lovely sense of serendipity in the whole thing - we collected her from Stoke-on-Trent, not far from the factory where my products are made. A true finch & crane doggy! 🐕

A quick hop over to Madrid: a fabulous trip to a fabulous city!

I planned my visit around several specialty kitchen stores scattered throughout the city centre - an excellent excuse to explore Madrid’s many delightful neighbourhoods.

My favourite, by far, was the family-owned , a true paradise for the home cook. Their selection of tools covers every cooking task imaginable. The wall of paella pans was a showstopper, and their handmade clay pots - cazuelas - were sturdy enough to use over fire, gas, or in the oven.

Warm, knowledgeable and wonderfully patient staff - well worth a visit when you're next in Madrid.

Happiness, it turns out, might begin at the table 💕

This year's World Happiness Report found that those who eat together, are happier - a truth the French have long known (and I came to understand during my years there).

The word copain - friend - comes from pain, meaning bread. A copain is literally someone you share bread with.

There’s something profoundly simple about that. Sharing a meal slows us down, softens the edges of the day, and turns food into something more than nourishment - it becomes connection.

So maybe happiness isn’t something to chase, but something to sit down to. Together.

Pick of the Week: Miso Paste 🌿

The humble soya bean has quite the secret - when fermented, it transforms into a rich, umami-packed paste that can lift even the simplest of dishes.

Last week, during the half-term rush, miso came to the rescue - elevating a quick, wholesome chicken noodle soup, made from what was on hand (no photo proof, so this one will have to do!)

Packed with antioxidants, fibre and protein, it’s a quiet kitchen hero - nourishing, versatile and simple.

I can't get enough of it!

Last week we delivered Christmas stock to , a perfect excuse to visit their beautiful shop in Battersea Power Station. I still get a quiet thrill seeing my pieces on their shelves - it never quite loses its magic. ✨

Lately, I’ve been a little preoccupied with banquette seating for the kitchen. The thought of a stylish, cozy nook - somewhere between a family corner and a chic Parisian café - where I can work, kids can hangout, and the family can gather.
