It was mid July when I saw Liberty London open call for submissions for its 2027 Beauty Advent Calendar. With the deadline for end July & the start of the summer hols, I knew it was tight.

Between day trips, kids at home and the heat, I somehow finished this hand-painted artwork. It took me over 40 hours to complete. A few more to edit digitally.

My artwork was not selected & even though I was upset, I was so happy with my effort.

I always find that working with a set brief really challenges you and I for one, have always found that I learn so much in the process.

I do want to use some of these elements in my own work so can’t wait to see what this develops into.

I will be taking part in the 150 celebrations Elys Wimbledon from 27th to 31st August. I would love to see the support of the local community 💓

Why is your art so bright? I am from Pakistan baby! 😎

With the start of the 2nd week of the summer hols, I am working on keeping sane by taking part in Love Wimbledon weekend market on 1st Aug + 2nd Aug 11-6pm at Wimbledon Piazza 🙏🏽🤣😎

For those who have seen me at markets know that my stall is always fantastically bright and definitely brings a smile on those passing by :) I love chatting with people and sharing my story about my art.

Today I want to celebrate a very special collaboration of 2026.

I would like to introduce a fellow UAL alumni and friend Ilke. She has a Masters Degree in Sustainability in Textiles & creates zero-waste textile products for her own brand

We first met in January 2023 at London’s leading trade show and since then have traded at many markets together across London. Of course very soon after, we became good friends as well.

This year as I was designing these silk ribbons, I knew I wanted to work the magic of Ilke’s brilliance into my bright scarves. I have been a part of the small business community of London for about 3 years now and what a privilege it has been to meet kind, warm and incredibly helpful women. Through this project, I wanted to celebrate the brave women who work so hard to follow their dreams.

After these silk ribbons were printed, Ilke beautifully finished them. A client commented, “They are so perfectly straight!” Ilke’s skill is insane! These double-sided scarves were launched earlier this year and it was only about a month ago, after the first batch sold out, that we realised it was time to shout out about this. I think we just don’t highlight women achievements enough.

I am an absolutely firm believer of supporting other women and this project was sheer joy. Ilke and I not only worked well together but also when I asked her to come over for some photos she instantly said yes! 😍This really turned out to be a dream project and I could not have asked for a better person to do it with. For over 15 years I was a bag designer in Karachi, Pakistan. I worked with fabric, leather, trimmings and texture to create accessories. It was definitely the most creative time of my life & I wish I could express how much I miss it.

When I kickstarted my career in the UK, back in 2021, I had to pivot. I was in a new country & had to work with the resources available to me. Textiles had to take a backseat and I started making paper prints. After nearly 5 years, I am feeling confident enough to explore again.

I had ordered some samples of my prints on a variety of fabrics. They arrived today and I have not been able to wipe the smile off my face. You might laugh if I tell you I have no idea of what and how I will use these fabrics.

In my 24 year long career, I can proudly say that I have never allowed myself to get bored of what I do. To this day, my work gives me immense satisfaction, happiness and joy which allows me to create magic.

I guess what I am saying is that it’s ok to not always have the answers, but it not ok to let anything stop you from moving forward. Trust the process and great things will happen.

On another note, how good are these prints looking!!😍

My next IRL market is on the 1st + 2nd of August at the Wimbledon Piazza.

“Your colours are dynamite!”

Wimbledon, you made this girl so happy!
The appreciation for my bold style, colour palette and the designs was truly overwhelming. To be showcasing inside was so very special! Thank you team .up.and for having me.

Of course my latest artwork “Wimbledon” featured on a tea towel & notebook was the most popular. I am a local artist living in Wimbledon so it really was a proud moment. My neon risograph prints & cards were a hit too.

It was also a pleasure to meet the team at the market 🫶🏽

As for what’s next, the summer hols will be starting soon but I will be sharing my future markets here so do stay tuned.

I would love to do more commissions so if anyone out there, has any ideas, give me a shout :)

Hello Wimbledon!

I am bringing my Wimbledon inspired collection to .up.and market tomorrow 4th July inside from 10-6pm. There are many activities planned for families, screen to watch plus complimentary strawberries/cream 🍓🍓
