It was a rug as beautiful as this one which first hooked me into the antique rug business 38 years ago, and the reason why I stayed. There’s nothing like a truly beautiful nomadic, tribal rug and along the way I have met many clients from all different kinds of background but united by a firm passion for beautifully dyed and arranged wool tufts… I still get a tremendous ‘buzz’ when I find an exceptional piece like this early North West Persian long rug. It is really a masterpiece from a long dead tradition, of dyeing with natural dyestuffs and hand spinning wool. The choices of colour are unbeatable and each shade vibrates with intensity. This is not a rug for the floor but a treasure to be rolled up and adored from the front or back, to be enjoyed just from the knowledge that such an outrageous piece of art belongs to you and the cost is practically zilch- in relation to other art forms that are seriously overpriced.
