Delicate floral sprigs in raspberry red with grass green leaves and accents of sky blue, give this Uzbek embroidery a strong Indian continent feel. Fresh in- an antique Shahsavan Soumak Khorjin half in great condition with beautiful natural dyes, begging for a clean to restore the rich colour. This is an early example, circa 1850, with wonderful stylised dragons in the stripes within a dragon border. An extra detail I like is the stars, also in Soumac technique, on the closing lappets. An unusual touch and adds greatly to the star power of this rare survivor. Available now as is, or deep washed at the textile fair in St Mary Abbots Vicarage next weekend, Sunday the 7th of June. So pleased to announce I will be joining the stalwarts at the Vicarage Gate textile fair on Sunday, June the 7th.
I will be bringing some knockout textiles from early Greek to Suzani and Turkish Ottoman. Also some lovely tapestry fragments beautifully mounted.

I love a green and pink Oushak carpet! Here is a huge one on the way to me as we speak. I love the open green field with a medallion, even if it is unfashionable, and I love the weird discolourations too. It adds to the storey and suggests a long and rich life. Who knows what intrigues this beautiful carpet has witnessed in the last 150 years…..!
