"A room with a view" is one of the most beautiful, concise and assertive expressions when aiming to describe the quality of an outdoors space when looked at from an indoor space. This room certainly has view.. that easily can cast a shadow on everything in the room. That is a risk worth paying:)

Scale is a very important element to consider when placing an art piece. Is it the right size for the room? Can it be seen and enjoyed fully? This aspect is always important to keep in mind, but it acquires a different dimension when art is being hung in corridors. The proportion of these spaces, their length, their transient nature, and the speed of movement they incite all act against the peaceful enjoyment of art.

When I designed this corridor, all of this came to mind. Yes, there was the intention of having art on that long wall so this room becomes more welcoming and homely, but a few aspects had to be considered so it works as beautifully as possible, keeping the right balance between the harmony demanded by the interior and respect toward the art and the client's appreciation of it. I needed to propose pieces that were not too big, and that could be read at a glance while, at the same time, having a level of depth so he could stop and contemplate them whenever he wanted; they are not decorative pieces. Their height is key, their quantity is key, the colour palette was important to consider, and the number of them had to be just right. I proposed two drawings by Patricio Boschi and a painting by Helge Jensen.

As an interior designer, I always view art as the ultimate element that beautifully closes a composition. It offers a vital visual anchor, while making a clear statement of distinctive individuality.

For this specific living room, considering the client’s brief, I proposed a curated mix of prints and photography.

The prints echo American abstractionism, while the photograph—carefully chosen for a flat designed with a 1960s aesthetic in mind—features colours and motifs that reflect the client’s passion for travel. Crucially, it opens up the space visually given the compact dimensions of the room.

Finding that perfect balance between scale, texture, and interiors is exactly why I am launching our new digital platform in 4 weeks.

In all years, I have been visiting Clerkenwell Design week the street installations have been rarely memorable, well crafted or innovative. They have been as bad as the quality of the show.. "more noise than substance" one may say. Finally there is an installation that appeals to the eyes and the brain and with an assertive use of materials designed by One Bite Design Studio using Leigei Stone
