A very important part of finishing a project is receiving a testimonial from the client. A client of mine just sent me this. Everything makes sense and is worthwhile when a client writes this to you in such a way, especially after a few months have passed, so time to reflect has been in place. Thanks so much to him and his wife for the trust.
"To whom it may concern
I worked with Diego on the refurbishment of my late Victorian semi detached property in London 2024/25.
Diego was introduced to me by my builder and got involved initially in the design elements relating to the downstairs kitchen, living area and bathroom when it became clear that the original architect’s designs were insufficient to complete the interior elements of the project. Ultimately, Diego would became my project manager and trusted general adviser on pretty much all aspects of the build.
I could not have completed the project without Diego’s advice and input. He prepared high quality interior designs through a process which I found very pragmatic (ie leveraging a strong fundamental understanding of key design principles and in particular the importance of practicality and an appreciation of the likely day to day use of the space - our house is small and this placed constraints on the design possibilities). He also drove through the translation of this designs into reality rigorously and robustly, [despite the fact that the builders on the ground failed on a number of occasions to follow the designs]. In time, he would essentially take overall control of the build.
His tenacity meant we got what had been designed rather than a series of compromises - the design and the project retained its integrity to the end, which is something which Diego stressed would be important. With the benefit of hindsight I can see why. We are very happy with our new home.
I found Diego to be insightful, transparent, flexible, experienced and super-responsive. He is a great communicator, able to speak to builders on site, to me as client/homeowner and all in between to help get things done. He is diligent and doesn’t let things slip through gaps, which is incredibly helpful on large, complex projects. He has vision and is able to articulate the “why” in design discussions with amateurs (with their own slightly disjointed and ill-conceived ideas - ie me). Fundamentally, Diego is the kind of person who knows how to advise - he is not afraid to challenge his client (indeed I came to expect and appreciate it) and has the experience to back it up. I would ultimately consult with Diego on everything about the project, not just interior design. This was because of the trusting relationship that he built between us.
I would not hesitate to recommend Diego to anyone considering a building design project and indeed have done since the project completed."
