My second time visiting Rome and it definitely won’t be the last.

An appreciation for art, architecture and historic places always draws me back. Seeing the main sites is one thing, but the more you wander down the streets of Rome, the more you discover, aged stonework, ornate facades, grand doorways and intricate details tucked around every corner.

Add in the sunshine this time of year, endless pasta, spritzes and wandering with no real plan… pure bliss

Opening up the roof of this Georgian townhouse was about gaining space without losing its soul.

The extension was designed to feel as though it had always been there, continuing the winding staircase with a period-correct open stringer to maintain a seamless flow. Timeworn timber from the ground floor was carefully salvaged and repurposed for the new landing.

Matched sash windows preserve the period character, while solar panels and smart heating are quietly integrated. It’s all about that balance, keeping the character while making the house work for modern life.

We’ve had some new faces join us recently, so I thought it was time to say hello and share a little bit about the hands behind the work.

I’m Prima, and after 15 years leading projects at some of London’s top design studios and delivering award-winning residential homes, I decided to pour that experience into something more personal. That’s how Studio Era was born.

My approach is simple; by blending a trusted network of master craftsmen and trades with a deep understanding of my clients' daily routines and personal style, I aim to curate homes that feel both soulful and intentional, creating spaces that respect the architecture while standing up to the demands of a modern lifestyle.

Thanks for following along on this journey!

It’s these one-off pieces that bring individuality and personality to a space.

We came across this chair in Marrakech and were instantly drawn to its hand-carved frame. Now reupholstered in a small-scale geometric Sanderson fabric, it sits perfectly within our recent Georgian townhouse project.

As much as we online source, nothing beats seeing pieces in person.

The weight of a handle, the finish on a light, the texture and softness of fabrics. It’s those little details that really shape how a project comes together.

Showroom visits are a key part of the process, it’s the best way to make sure everything specified not only looks right, but feels right too.

Why does this home feel so cohesive?

When you walk through a well-designed space, you shouldn’t feel a jolt when moving from the hallway to the living room. It should feel like a single, unfolding story.
In our recent Georgian project, the secret was continuity. Instead of treating each room as an isolated project, we developed a tonal thread. This consistent palette of textures and hues flows from the architectural details in the entryway right through to the soft furnishings in the bedrooms.

Before & After: The Jewel Box Powder Room

We completely transformed this tiny space to create a bold and charming cloakroom. Due to the room’s compact size, the plumbing layout remained unchanged, but we improved the WC position by slightly adjusting it forward. This created a practical shelf and concealed the cistern with a discreet access panel.

To add visual impact, we chose a striking woodland wallpaper and paired it with new dado rail, skirting, and cornice to achieve a traditional feel. Large terrazzo floor tiles featuring blue and brown flecks to pick up the wallpaper accent colours, while the dark blue ceiling adds depth.

We completed the look with warm brass accents, including the flower-bud towel rail and handles. In such a small space, every decision required careful consideration, from lighting to colour and finish choices.

Loved visiting some of my favourite showrooms last week, enjoying festive cocktails, beautiful spaces, and a first look at the winter collection.

People often think interior design is all about picking wall colours, pairing beautiful fabrics, and attending inspiring trade shows and yes, that’s definitely part of it!
But what you don’t see behind those glossy before-and-afters is the real grind that makes it all happen. We’re talking endless site meetings, technical drawing packs, multiple schedules, build coordination, logistics management, budgeting… the list goes on.
Interior design is so much more than choosing pretty things, it’s a multidisciplinary process that blends creativity with strategy, planning, and a lot of problem-solving. It takes teamwork, patience and precision to bring a vision to life and keep every project running smoothly.
