Would you have guessed parasols can be painted?
I’ve always loved using orange. It’s such a joyful colour that instantly lifts a space and, here in Provence, it looks even more beautiful against the warm tones of natural stone.
That’s why I chose these vibrant orange Asian-style parasols for our courtyard.
But after years under the Provençal sun (and even the moonlight!), the fabric had faded dramatically. Structurally, they were still perfect. The only problem was the colour.
Finding replacement canopies proved almost impossible, so instead of giving up on them, I decided to experiment.
I painted the fabric using outdoor fabric paint…
…and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the result.
Not only have I given them a second life, but I’ve also discovered a solution I’ll happily recommend to clients looking to refresh outdoor textiles instead of replacing them.
