All jokes aside, renovations rarely go to plan...

A delivery gets delayed. A tradesperson drops out. Something behind a wall that nobody expected. A decision that felt right on paper and needs rethinking in real life.

This is not the exception, this is just how it goes.

The difference between a renovation that feels manageable and one that keeps you up at night isn’t whether things go wrong...

It’s whether you have someone in your corner when they do.

That’s a large part of what working with an interior designer actually means.

Not just the beautiful end result, but having someone who has navigated this before. Someone who can problem solve without panic, source an alternative without starting from scratch, and keep the vision intact when the process gets messy.

The project you can see here had its moments (most do!), but the client never had to carry the weight of that alone.

A renovation done well is one of the most worthwhile things you can invest in. It just helps to have the right person with you for the whole of it.

If you’re thinking about a project and not sure where to begin, let’s have a conversation about what that process could look like for you.

This is our home in Norfolk...

We’ve been here six months and haven’t touched a wall yet.

Because, before anything changes, we want to understand it...

Understand how it was built, how it grew, how the people before us lived in it.

The boys are sleeping on mattresses on the floor, the heating needs sorting and there’s a lot to untangle, but rushing it would be doing it a disservice.

We moved here for a slower pace, to be closer to family, to put down proper roots.

We bought it on emotion and on the life we imagined having here and we went in with our eyes open about the work it needs (if not entirely about the cost of it 😂)

This is the part I don’t always talk about with clients, but live every day alongside them...

The patience it takes to sit with a house before you act on it

The clarity you have to build before a single decision gets made

The honesty required when the budget meets reality

The home we want already exists somewhere inside this house, finding it is going to take time, thought and care (and probably a coat of paint in a few rooms while we wait!)

We’re at the very beginning and yet, that feels like exactly the right place to start...

You’re not alone.

Whether you’re navigating new family dynamics, starting fresh, juggling a job and a million decisions... or simply tired of living in a space that doesn’t feel like you...

We’re here for that.

If that sounds familiar, send us a message. We’d love to hear about your space.

Eade Road

When Sophia and Lee came to us, their home had one major problem...

No functional family bathroom.

The bath was unusable and the separate shower room had become a full time storage solution.

And like many of our clients, they didn’t have the time (or headspace) to solve it alone, with them balancing full-time jobs, a toddler and a baby on the way.

That’s where Make My House Home came in...

Vision: we started with layout changes and photorealistic visuals that helped them see the potential, without second-guessing a single decision.

Curate: we sourced every finish and fitting to make the space work hard and look beautiful.

Deliver: we managed the renovation from start to finish, from trades to timelines to finishing details, so they could stay focused on their busy life.

This was a fast-paced but deeply rewarding project, turning this neglected space into a place of everyday comfort and calm...

A space that Sophia can finally enjoy, because a relaxing place to unwind and take a long soak in the bath is definitely an absolute necessity with a newborn right?

Anyone else’s camera roll full of beautiful homes, or is it just me?

Two rooms, side by side, that had quietly become somewhere things got put rather than somewhere the family actually lived...

And that is exactly what my clients Alison & Shaun wanted to change.

They have three children, two of whom are deaf, and a shared love of colour that runs through everything they do.

The living room and dining room needed to work harder: space for the whole family to be together, room to entertain, a way to separate the children when they needed it and enough light and breathing room to make it all feel generous rather than cramped.

When you work with this much colour, the palette has to be disciplined, both spaces talk to each other through a tight, considered scheme that feels cohesive rather than chaotic.

A large window seat fills the bay, doubling as a generous place to gather. An extending dining table grows with the occasion. Rattan cabinet fronts keep remotes and consoles out of sight but within reach, wifi passes straight through. A central pendant light connects to a red bulb that glows when the doorbell rings, so no one misses a moment.

Alison’s existing system for storing the children’s things, boxes tucked into a cubby, was worth keeping, so we did. There’s space for treasured things to be seen, and space for everything else to disappear.

Together, we’ve completed the Vision, Curated the pieces needed to bring the spaces to life and this month Deliver begins, with Alison and Shaun confidently leading that stage themselves, supported by recommended trades and a clear, detailed brief from us!

We can’t wait to see this design built around joy be brought to life 🧡

When I first met Rose, she wasn’t short on taste...

She was short on headspace 🫨

After years of renovating, she’d simply run out of steam, but she knew she wanted her bedroom to feel different.

It wasn’t so much about what it looked like... it was more about how it felt when she stepped inside.

Together, we reimagined the space around her needs and brought in rich autumn tones for warmth and balance, a new layout that put the bed centre stage.

Now, her bedroom isn’t just beautiful, it’s a place for her to pause, a space that holds her, reflects her and brings her back to herself at the end of a day.
