This week's Theory Thursday we explore the wonderfully named Splush term!

Splush / Plush - A cut pile carpet with a single, level surface and a longer, looser pile than velvet. Softer and more relaxed in appearance, splush sits somewhere between a traditional plush and a short s**g pile.

Over time, the pile naturally separates with wear, giving a more casual, lived-in look.

This construction is now rarely specified, having largely been replaced by more resilient pile styles.
