A big, big Thank You to everyone who came by ’s Fair in King’s Cross on Saturday, made a purchase, came for a chat, and came to see my new prints! Thanks for the love of my outfit (yes, I do try to match my outfit to my art 🤣!). I loved sharing stories with familiar faces and meeting so many new people. The excitement and smiles about my pieces really made my day. To my friends who came by for your unwavering support. All of it makes so much difference to a day.

I had a LOT of conversations about the London Tube. I hadn’t realised just quite how much love there is for the lines that we’re connected to through home and work.

🏙️ The 10th Anniversary London series is a fresh approach to pieces you’ve loved.
It includes: Iconic London, an imagined skyline print of famous landmarks, which follows on from my bestselling London, I Love You art. These two pieces capture the contrasts of London - how the light changes as days merge into night and back into day, the modern and historic buildings that sit alongside each other.

🗺️ And new tube map-style prints are in! We had Northern Line Southbound, travelling down through sunny South London from Waterloo / London Bridge to Morden. Now, your art journey will take you south along the Bakerloo line from Queen's Park to the south London terminus, Elephant & Castle, across the entire Victoria Line or head North along the Northern Line from Charing Cross / Bank to Mill Hill East, seeing how the lines intersect and loop around the City.
The geometric illustrations celebrate the interconnected beauty of London, removing the clutter to focus on beautiful, crisp angles and tiny, delightful details.

🎨 The colour palette throughout these 5 London prints draws on moments and memories from days and nights in the City. Sunshine-filled days that hum with vibrant energy, in saffron and tangerine oranges, clear sky blues, and a touch of violet, to buzzy, atmospheric evenings with glowing lights in hues of midnight blues and indigo, ruby reds, and deep amethyst.

⭐ My first event of the summer is in two weeks: Saturday 18 July with the brilliant Illustrators’ Fair at The Crossing in King’s Cross, a fabulous venue.

Come along and make a whole day of it - there are so many brilliant cafes, restaurants and street food surrounding the area. I personally love truck at Granary Square (outside & Other Stories) or in Lower Stable Street for cookies and coffee. Or take some time out in nature amongst the shady woodland areas of Camley Street Natural Park. I’ll pop a link in my stories to some ideas of how to spend a day in the area.

🌟 10 Years of Mapping Memories: Part 2

In my last post, I shared the first five milestones of South Island Art's decade-long journey. This one looks at how the business has evolved and grown with your support.

🖼️ My first homeware range of mugs, coasters and placemats felt like making art more real. Going beyond the wall to add a special finishing touch to kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms, filling our homes with memories. At an event a few months ago, a lady came by to say she’d bought some of my original coasters and that they were still going strong in her home!

🖼️ From Studio to Street: One of my most exhilarating moments was being commissioned to paint a Corgi for a Central London art trail celebrating Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

🖼️Collections rooted in nature. Two of my teenage art passions were the sea and florals. My Seaside collection was one of my first, and I continue to add to it, bringing the relaxing, soothing effects of beaches and water into our homes.

Florals evolved into The Garden Collection - inspired by a love of photographing flowers to discovering a love of birds, butterflies, and botanical gardens all over the world.

🖼️Evolving style: My shop opened with four locations. Today, that vision has grown into a collection of around 60 unique destinations across landscapes, landmarks and skylines. My style has transformed from minimalist pieces to richly detailed, layered designs that spark memories of travels and adventures. er look, sparking stories of past travels and dreams of the next escape.

🖼️ Growing a family’s collection: The final milestone story I’d like to share is one rooted in collaboration and stories - those ultra-magical repeat commissions. It’s that connection over how a place can bring people together with shared interests and cherished memories. This family in Australia now have 3 pieces that tell the story of their lives together ❤️

✨ Celebrating 10 Years of Mapping Memories! 🎉

Wrapping up my 10th Anniversary series, here's a look at 5 milestones that have shaped my business.

🖼️ This journey actually began with an inspiring chat on the tube, followed by a weekend in North East England that fueled my vision for an online shop full of destination-based art collections — from architectural to whimsical pieces.

🖼️ I kicked off with a challenge to draw 100 landmarks in 100 days, perfect for gallery walls. This year, I’ll be launching a London Anniversary Collection, so join my mailing list for first access! (link in bio )

🖼️ Going from canvas to stall. My first event - Tootopia - was an experience like nothing else. It ignited my love for trading at curated markets, leading to events with , and . It's been a wonderful decade of sharing memories and stories with you, from foodie highlights in Boston to holidays with Grandma in Whitstable.

🖼️ As an avid reader, trading at The British Library with Crafty Fox Market was a dream come true. Everything clicked, from the other businesses to the shoppers, the sense of community was magical.

🖼️ Story of Us. An offhand comment from Mr R, whilst considering a print for our home, led to the creation of my popular bespoke concept, Storyline Skylines.

What began as a silhouette of us walking along Southbank evolved into a skyline of our important places. Some places no longer exist, so having them in our print keeps those memories alive, and it always sparks conversations with visitors to our home.

Since then, I've created bespoke pieces as wedding, engagement and milestone birthday presents. Each landscape is so meaningful.

🏙️ 10 years. 10 destinations: Part 2!

Celebrating 10 years of my business by revisiting 10 destinations that sparked my creativity.

🥬 London Parks: Needed their own category, and they have a dedicated collection in my online shop. I have loved being within walking distance of different South London commons, places that have instilled a sense of balance and stability.

🍃 Kew Gardens: this place has a magical quality for me. Each season brings something new to see, especially the colours -several colour palettes of mine have started with a moment in Kew.

🌊 Northumberland & Tyne & Wear: What I love about the North-East coastline is the drama of the landscape. Sharp, edgy clifftops with striking silhouettes of castle ruins perched on them against soft, expansive sandy beaches. Even the skies are spectacular - moody, angry greys to hazy blues, you’ll experience it all.

🏖️ Kent Coast: Trips to the Kent coast have been the perfect day out from London - easy to get to by train, with fresh sea air and a complete change of scenery instantly refreshing. Margate, with its playful and refreshing ice-cream coloured shopfronts, was the inspiration for my fun and joyful ice-cream colour palette.

🏝️ Sri Lanka: A tiny teardrop island overflowing with hospitality, history and nature. Our last visit, a family tour taking in different sights around the island, was filled with exhilarating experiences. I felt in awe of, as well as anchored by, nature. Misty mountains in dusty blues, hill plantations in jungle greens, ancient and sacred sites in earthy terracottas, buildings painted in dusky pink, blue and turquoise. Marine blues, sea greens and aquamarines of the Indian Ocean change from coast to coast and time of year.

Creating more than just a souvenir.

🌍 I started my business as I wanted to bring home the feeling of different destinations through art. The best travel stories, sitting right on our walls, creating a moment to escape into every day. From the tiny gardens that fill the City of London to the colourful neighbourhoods of Singapore, I’m sharing the 10 places that shaped my art over the last decade on my blog.

The name South Island Art has several meanings. I like that it suggests travel, and my heritage is Sri Lankan - a southern island in the Indian Ocean.

I founded South Island Art in 2016 to record my travel experiences. This year, I'm excited to celebrate 10 years in business with lots of treats and new pieces!

🌄 One of my favourite recent holidays was to the Canary Islands - full of fantastic food and seeing these incredible, otherworldly landscapes.
