First day of the new restricted routine; cycled the electric bike across Hampstead Heath and back beautiful crisp sunny morning as my solo excercise outdoor event . Quite a few runners out doing the same. We are so lucky to have such an asset close by.

Yesterday was a great day in the sense our delayed renewal of PI Insurance was put in place. Anyone coming up to their renewal you need to plan several weeks potentially to get cover in place as the market has hardened 'big time' and premiums are going through the roof. We were lucky thanks to Ian Williams at Haskoll Architects who recommended their broker ASE Insurance Agency.

We allowed 5 weeks to renew but it wasn't enough even though we had a 24 no claims record with the same broker Aon Professions it has taken an emotional toll dealing with this and COVID-19. The RIBA website and ARB too had good advice for people who were in our situation but their PI agency were obviously completely swamped and didn't pick the phone or return messages. I am sure this was due to overwhelming demand. Call their switchboard who will help if you are desperate for advice. I was told that it had nothing to do with our past record or performance but the insurance markets reaction to new build London Basement failures and Grenfell fall out. We need certainty as do insurers but that is not coming any time soon with an incomplete Grenfell enquiry on cladding and and suggestions of a shake up of the Building Regulations (long overdue)!

Remember Covid 19 will not be forever and good look if you are in practice and get that PI renewal proposal written!
