You don’t actually need a fireplace to own one of our original Art Deco and vintage timepieces.

They come in so many unique styles, colours, materials and sizes, so there will be one for you. For a shelf; sideboard; console table; dressing table; bathroom shelf; wall; desk and yes even a fireplace 😂

This little beauty is actually brass but had been chrome plated.

After some digging around, I found that it was made by Smiths around 1932-33 because this is when they used the logo SEC with two different arrow graphics running through the letters.

One had a straight arrow but this clock has the zig zag which signified it as being a “synchronous clock” rather than an “English lever drum movement”.

It is my understand that there has always been a question over whether SEC stood for Smiths English Clocks or Smiths Electric Clocks. Apparently by 1938, the company’s letterhead identified “SEC” as a registered trademark of Smiths English Clocks.

Every clock is unique. Sometimes we find styles we’ve restored before, but none of them are replicas and could well be approaching 100 years!

The detailed carving along the bottom epitomises the Art Deco era beautifully.

In 1932, Alexander Margulies founded ELCO Clocks & Watches Ltd. in Hatton Garden, London, importing Swiss watches for the UK market. By 1939, ELCO became the UK’s largest distributor of clocks and watches.

During WWII, Margulies shifted focus to the war effort, manufacturing Spitfire cockpit instruments and anti-aircraft gun components.

Today, the company’s legacy continues under his son Marcus—a remarkable chapter in Elco’s history.

Can you feel the excitement building? This will be our last pop event of 2024 so don’t miss out on some gorgeous and beautifully restored Art Deco mantel clocks.

After a great turnout at the Night Market, the Clock Wizard has been 100% on it! Luckily I work from home because there has been box after box arriving. These three clocks have literally just come out of the workshop. And with just a week and a half to go before Festive Fayre, the pace must be maintained.

So there I was, assisting the Clock Wizard at Night Market and the lovely presents me with a beautifully wrapped package.

I truly had no idea, why? or what? My adorable sister/cuz had secretly asked Lorna to source the original vinyl of my absolute favourite song, Moon River ❤️

I’m feeling blessed and over the moon with my gift which will be positioned with the original sheet music, also a gift from Jules and sourced by Lorna.

What a wonderful day. We met lots of lovely Northfields folk, lots of clocks went off to new homes and we got to spend 6 hours with the greatest group of talented makers and designers.

Yes, definitely feeling blessed and full of gratitude.

So this afternoon I’ve been messing around with AI image creation. It started with me taking quick pics of clocks we have around the house. We have a lot and most of them tick and chime 🙉

This led to remembering why we named ourselves Houseful of Clocks and referring to Martin as the Clock Wizard. This nickname has stuck.

I haven’t mastered inserting real people into my images yet, so please note this isn’t Martin 😂🤣😂

I however post some real photos of a few of our clocks at home 💕
