I went to a standing only sushi bar near Tokyo station with my sons and a GF in Marunouchi Oazo building on the last day of my stay in Japan last July.

There used to be lots of these standing only tiny bars in Tokyo but they’ve died out over the years. You order and eat standing around the sushi counter - great for grabbing a sushi snack for lunch or on your way home.
It’s a very popular place and we had to queue for almost an hour….

The nigiri was freshly made in front of us and they were all delicious! They had a wide variety of seafood but I always choose same nigiri😆.

I visited Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum in Koganei, Tokyo with my son when I was in Japan in early summer.

I felt like I had slipped back to the old times surrounded by old buildings. Half of the houses used to be owned by wealthy Japanese families.

The museum also has a nostalgic old shopping area.
We found this Udon restaurant in one of the buildings in the museum.

It was a very hot day in July and we had a refreshing dish of cold udon for our lunch. The texture of the udon was smooth and the dipping sauce was very tasty. I love eating cold udon on a hot summer day.

A memory from my trip to Japan.

Had a great lunch in Karuizawa. I didn’t book a table for lunch in advance, so a couple of restaurants I had in mind were all booked up for lunch!
So we asked a local person to recommend us this restaurant and we hit a jackpot!
The food was delicious!!!

Well I haven’t been to Karuizawa for sometimes. It has changed! Next time I should book a table in advance. And it’s a bit cooler than Tokyo.

We also went to see waterfalls called Shiraito no taki (白糸の滝) and visited an old hotel turned into a museum Mikasa Hotel (三笠ホテル).

I made a ramen and added a little of Guilin style Chilli Sauce from chilli.crafts

If you like eating very spicy food, Guilin style Chilli sauce is for you. I may have added a bit too much for my ramen but it gives a it punchy heat.

This sauce is a perfect companion for gyoza dumplings!

A breakfast 旅宿 上松や when we stayed in Bessho Onsen in Nagano prefecture.
I’m impressed with their beautiful and excellent breakfast as there were so many dishes and I couldn’t eat all.
A chef start working from 5am to prepare for the breakfast!

Then we visited Ueda castle 信州上田観光協会【公式】 in Ueda city in Nagano prefecture.
