This post has been a month in the making! I got this beautiful Qu'ran from .canada in a giveaway and it came in a gorgeous bag with a matching complimentary tasbeeh. So much love and care put into this package and honestly, we have been thoroughly enjoying reciting from this mushaf - the writing is clear and adds to the experience. Thank you .canada! Many du'as coming your way ❤️

The passage of time always involves loss. We just don't realise it because we are looking at the bigger picture - betrayal, theft, death. But every minute that passes is also a minute lost to us forever.

We grieve the larger losses, but forgot to grieve the one slipping away every second. We wish we had done more in a general way, but don't make an effort to do more in a specific way. We remain, despite our resilience and ability to bear heartbreak, ever human.

Hook & Heart has been silent for long time for many reasons - most personal. There has been laughter and tears, joy and more recently immense grief, but now there is also change on the horizon. And perhaps a glimmer of hope as well. That sadness is constant but will soften with time, just as a piece of handmade fabric softens with every wash and every cuddle until it becomes a warm, comfortable, familiar part of your life.

The imminent change means that I will need to find new homes for my yarn ASAP (a loss of its own kind). I'll be posting up photos and prices.* Please DM me and share the info with anyone who might be interested. Every ball has been bought and treasured with love, but I simply cannot take them with me and it saddens me to think I might have to abandon them. If you can find a use for any of them, do get in touch.

So the plan was to finish the piece, finalize the pattern, polish it off and then set it out to the world.

Mums plan. Children laugh at those plans.

My little one has been having sleep issues (Who needs to rest? Not her apparently!) and that means the past two weeks have been a rollercoaster of fighting sleep, cranky tiredness and lots of clinging and tears. Crochet has been a distant dream.

We're not off the ride yet, but I'm really happy the actual border is done and all that remains is to finish off the pattern.

I was tempted to publish it as a chart and without written instructions, but decided having both would be better. Thus, the wait.

Soon though, insha'Allah (God Willing)!
