What biscuits are you putting inside this Victorian sterling silver biscuit box?

Made in London in 1869 by Barnards, it sits on its own matching tray with a pair of scroll handles, a lovely straight-sided form with a domed, hinged cover topped with a decorative finial. Every surface is finely engraved with floral and foliate decoration, star motifs and a central floral garland, finished throughout with beaded borders.

Carol's pick of the week!

A beautiful antique Charles II sterling silver beaker, made in London in 1662 a genuinely rare survivor from the 17th century, likely by John Cruttall. It has a lovely tapering, straight-sided form with a band of engraving around the upper body, and traces of initials still faintly visible on one side, a quiet reminder of whoever once owned it.

Pieces from this early in silver's history rarely turn up in this condition and it's a real find for anyone collecting 17th century silver.

An elegant George III sterling silver soup tureen, London 1808 by Robert Garrard. Paw feet, lion-head handles, cardoon border, original Sheffield plate liner. As striking on the table today as it was 200+ years ago.

Which sterling silver coffee pot would pour the perfect cup?

Two very different coffee pots currently available at Michael Sedler Antiques.

The first is an impressive George III sterling silver coffee pot with a wooden handle and stand with an embellished bead border, made in 1783 by Thomas Chawner.

The second is a sleek, vintage design by famed silversmith Gerald Benney from 1965, also with an accompanying silver stand.

A rare George III antique sterling silver basket with a frosted white glass liner, standing on four claw feet with acanthus leaf mounts. The body of the basket features an interlaced, lattice-style pattern that repeats evenly around the body, allowing light to pass through and emphasising the delicacy of the metalwork. The glass liner is of thick, heavy weight glass and has a cut star burst pattern in the base.

Derived from the French word for gardener, a jardiniere is a decorative pot or planter designed to hold flowers or plants, and is a wonderful way to bring nature and colour into your living space.

Made in London in 1795 by William Pitts & Joseph Preedy.

Carol's Pick of the Week featuring our favourite furry friend, Whitney!

Even Whitney deserves proper silver, so today she's modelling a genuine Victorian sterling silver dog collar, complete with a lock and key mechanism and an adjustable fit for a comfortable wear. Working in London through the late Georgian and Regency period, Storr became renowned for exceptional craftsmanship and confident, sculptural design, first under his own mark, later with Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, silversmiths to the Crown.
