Anything cosier than a box bed? Another detail from the project that brought country life to London. This one is designed bespoke from salvaged cheese boards. You can still see where the rounds once sat to dry… and drift off into a gouda dream 😴

As we cozy into October, we want to share a few elements of a project that brought a feeling of a country home right into the buzz of London. For our client we installed a sculptural monolithic fireplace salvaged from Somerset, and exposed the beams in the ceiling. Paired with antique textiles and natural fibres, the place really does feel a world away from the city it sits within.

We are celebrating a year of our book ‘Contemporary Salvage: designing homes from a philosophy of Re-Use’ featuring this fireplace on the front cover. If you want to read more about this restorative project, you can find our book on our website or come visit us in Kensal Green.

Large storage pieces, ideal for those who want to take their furniture with them when they move. An alternative to fitted shelving, and brilliantly vintage. These varied designs could become wardrobes, office storage or kitchen cabinetry.

The mid century wooden cabinets have been reclaimed from a prominent museum in London.

Adjustable industrial shelving = storage problems solved.
In the 1880s Arthur Lambert teamed up with W Lucy & Co an iron and steel fabricator in Oxford to manufacture ‘Perfect Adjustable Shelving’ system. The success of this shelving saw the designs fill libraries like the Bodleian in Oxford, the Linnean Society and at the Patent Office in Chancery Lane.

We have also installed these practical units into the shop floors of London retail spaces as well as our interior design projects, as pictured here.

We have salvaged two teak framed double-width windows that were previously installed internally in a restaurant in Covent Garden. Single glazed, with decorative blue decals. We think these would make for some great internal wall details to let light flow through a building.
