Many of you may already know this, but for those who don’t, my interior design journey began when I moved home from an extended period living overseas, and opened a small boutique on Walton Street in London's Chelsea. What began as a passion for unique treasures and exceptional handmade pieces has evolved into the Katharine Pooley Studio you know today.

Starting with a canvas of grasscloth wallpaper, I selected a palette of tactile materials across our bespoke creations to create the ideal guest bedroom for our top floor at the Holland Park townhouse.

A bespoke headboard and bench mirror each other and form the basis of the sculptural focal point. These are complemented by shagreen bedside tables with brass detailing and alabaster wall lights. A bespoke bedcover by Irish artisan is the perfect finishing touch.

Members of our team travelled to the beautiful city of Verona in Northern Italy recently, to visit some of our supplier workshops and explore all the Veneto region has to offer.

The city layers Roman, medieval, Renaissance, Venetian and contemporary influences across its historic centre, and its topography is defined by the curves of the Adige River. This gives Verona an incredibly distinctive character where its architecture isn’t experienced as isolated structures, but as a sequence of vistas and compositions shaped by the water, the bridges, streets and piazzas.

We were witness to sights such as the Arena di Verona (built in 30AD) for a showing of Nabucco as well as the incredible Villa La Rotunda and Teatro Olimpico by the ever-influential Palladio in Vicenza.

A memorable journey celebrating the perpetual excellence found across Italian design including within our collaborators - Arclinea B&B Italia 🇮🇹

The breathtaking footprint of the Olea Villa- Nestled within a pine forest and overlooking the Balearic Island's crystal-clear turquoise waters, every detail has been considered to create a harmonious relationship between functionality and the surrounding environment.

Thoughtfully landscaped using locally sourced plants and foliage, the garden features 'Birds of Paradise,' rosemary and lemon trees for fragrance and escape, while rechargeable lanterns cast a soft ambient glow as day turns to evening across the multiple alfresco areas.

A teak dining table with a cappuccino dust glass lava top sits alongside neutral-toned dining chairs. Beyond the firepit and lounge area, handcrafted benches in the games space and a pétanque court complete a garden designed for long lunches, slow afternoons and effortless summer evenings.

With unobstructed views looking over Port Andratx, our Olea Villa project is an architectural-led home with subtle, rustic nods to the region’s heritage. Its contemporary elegance creates a relaxed yet sophisticated family retreat.

The focus on natural materials and sustainability is a standout feature, with even the paving stones pictured here - leading up to the beautiful entrance hall - having been rescued and recycled from Barcelona’s La Rambla renovations.

'An English Butterfly Garden' is an exclusive collaboration between my Studio and the master artisans at and I was thrilled to introduce Duck Egg Bloom, the newest colourway in the ethereal collection a few weeks back.

'Set against a soft duck egg ground, delicate florals unfurl in layers of misted sage, silvery eucalyptus and chalk. The airy and gently luminous shade evokes dew on petals and the hush of an early morning garden in bloom and feels both fresh and timeless.'

I found this beautiful blue writing bureau a little while back at the Battersea Decorative Antiques Fair in London, and it has remained one of my most treasured pieces ever since.

I was drawn to the gentle patina that only comes with age - It is not a perfect museum piece and that is exactly why I love it; the old finishes and subtle imperfections give it so much character and make it feel as though it has already lived a wonderful life before coming into my home.

So grateful to and for including me in their “Oh My Yacht" feature.

It was a pleasure to share my thoughts on designing for life at sea, where beauty and practicality should never be mutually exclusive.
As we begin work on , the 323-metre residential superyacht, my focus remains on creating spaces that are both timeless and deeply liveable.

"The beach club is often one of the most-loved and frequently-used areas... Designing these spaces means understanding how people truly live on board, ensuring they are every bit as beautiful as they are functional,' she says."

Every one of our interiors begins with a story.

One of the things I am most proud of regarding my Studio, is the way we have cultivated an approach that begins with sitting down with our clients and really listening to their story: their wants and needs of course, but their experiences, loves, memories, and really understanding the fabric of their being.

The honour of being welcomed into someones private world is something we do not take lightly and this process enables us to really create something incredible which will eventually have such a monumental impact to their lives.

It starts with design research and cultural influence - exploring architecture, art, craftsmanship, the environment and unique spirit of a place and the people living within in it is the best place to begin to create spaces that feel deeply personal.

Rendered elevations, where we present an idea to a client, are a very exciting stage as they are the bridge between imagination and realising a design. I love the interest you all show in the processes behind what we do ❤️
