The question most homeowners wish they had asked earlier is not about style. It is about process.

How are briefs developed? How are decisions presented and approved? Who manages trades and procurement on site? What happens when something changes halfway through?

A designer who struggles to answer these plainly may struggle to run the project just as plainly once it starts.

Our new journal piece works through five checks before you hire: portfolio, process, credentials, fees and personal fit, with the red flag worth noticing in each.

The most useful trend of 2026 is not a colour. It is a floor plan.

Wellness this year is less about a dedicated spa room and more about how every room feels to be in: layered lighting, acoustic separation between busy and quiet spaces, natural materials underfoot, planting in kitchens and living rooms.

The same logic applies everywhere else. A well-planned family home tends to outlast whichever finish is trending in a given year.

That is the argument running through our new journal piece on prime London interiors in 2026, alongside quiet luxury, heritage revival and why bespoke joinery keeps winning in period properties.

Our full house renovation in Moor Park, Hertfordshire ran from August 2023 to May 2025, and it touched every room: lounge, reception spaces, master bedroom, children's bedrooms, home gym, utility and boot room.

We handled the whole picture, from floor layouts and ceiling designs through to decorating and window treatments, so the home reads as one coherent story rather than a set of separate rooms.

The heart of the project was bespoke joinery, designed in-house and built by our own workshop: fitted wardrobes, dressing areas, built-in storage and tailored cabinetry, all shaped around the architecture of the house. Freestanding furniture was sourced to sit alongside it.

The result is a contemporary family home where design, craftsmanship and everyday life stay in balance.

Starting a home renovation can be exciting, but comparing quotes from different professionals can quickly get confusing.

Homeowners often compare a decorator’s styling quote with an architect’s structural proposal, thinking they are competing bids for the same job. In reality, they are answers to entirely different questions.

Before you hire anyone for your next project, here is a quick guide to who does what:

🎨 The Decorator

Focus: Aesthetics and finishing touches.

When to hire: If you are happy with your current layout but want to refresh the colours, fabrics, wallpapers, and furniture.

The question they answer: "How should this room look?"

📐 The Interior Designer / Interior Architect

Focus: Space planning, functionality, material specification, and project coordination.

When to hire: If you need to rethink how your home flows, plan bespoke joinery, or coordinate materials and trades across multiple rooms.

The question they answer: "How should this home work, and then how should it look?"

🏛️ The Architect

Focus: Structural changes, building design, planning permissions, and regulations.

When to hire: If you are moving load bearing walls, extending your property, or altering the roofline.

The question they answer: "How do we safely and legally alter or build this structure?"

On larger high end projects, these roles often work together as a team to bring the vision to life smoothly.

Confused about who you need for your upcoming project?
Let’s talk it through. 💬

With remote working now a permanent routine, a laptop on the kitchen island can quietly undermine both your concentration and the calm of your home.

Thoughtful luxury design treats the workspace as a proper room in its own right. It is about creating a space where everything is resolved so the work itself feels entirely effortless.

Here are the four key elements to consider for a high end workspace:

📌 Location is everything
Choose a dedicated study for daily focused work or a garden studio for complete separation between work and family life.

📌 Light and acoustics
Balance natural daylight with layered artificial lighting. Use soft finishes like curtains and upholstery to absorb echo during calls.

📌 Built for video calls
Ensure you have a professional, considered backdrop (like bespoke shelving) and balanced front light so you are never in shadow.

📌 Bespoke joinery
Made to measure storage absorbs technology and cabling into the room. It allows you to close the working day away cleanly when you finish.

A great home office does not just serve your work, it protects the rest of your family life from it.

This room didn’t need more space.
It needed better decisions.

Because luxury is rarely about size, it’s about direction, proportion, balance, and knowing what actually matters in a room.

During a 40-minute Signature Consultation, we completely rethink your space and show you exactly what’s holding it back and how to make it feel elevated, intentional, and beautifully put together.

Sometimes one decision changes everything.
