Event 001: Grounded Transcendence at CDW26 by .architecture transformed the Domus showroom into an immersive installation of sound, space and material exploration.

surfaces shaped the atmosphere throughout - from Motivo-lined walls reflecting light across the space, to their 3D Bloc series forming the dance floor and DJ booth, and Celosia creating sculptural seating elements, all finished in matt charcoal creating a unified tonal environment where light and sound became the focus.

Alongside the installation, a curated display of Mutina surfaces in tonal black-to-grey palettes celebrated over a decade of collaboration, showcasing the brand’s continued exploration of texture, depth and architectural surface design. The display highlighted how tone, tactility and form can shape immersive, emotionally resonant interiors.

Event 001: Grounded Transcendence | CDW26

This year at CDW26, .architecture radically transformed the Domus showroom into a multidimensional installation shaped by immersion, collaboration, and collective experience.

Each day brought a new typology and atmosphere - gallery (day one), listening room (day two), club (day three) - with the space evolving throughout the week. The audio programme was curated by a different collective each night: .ldn, , and .sisters, bringing a different approach to sound, rhythm, and communal energy.

From .Archard’s Proto/Synthesis presentations to DJ sets, sonic interventions and ’s immersive soundscapes, the event traced a journey from proto to synthesis, reflecting a wider trend for grounded, sensory experiences in an increasingly digital world. Daily talks explored topics like design futures, embodied photography (.a.purdy), and nightlife’s role in collective transcendence (Francesca Mamino), broadening the conversation about space and shared experience.

.architecture’s takeover of the Domus showroom temporarily transforms the space into an experimental ground for sound, surface, and spatial exploration through three evolving typologies: Gallery (Day 1), Listening Room (Day 2), and Club (Day 3).

On Day 3, the showroom shifts into its final form, with CAKE reconfiguring the space to become a club inspired setting.

will curate a 12-hour sonic journey curated with a party that resists easy definition, moving fluidly across music, art and community, finding beauty in the shadows and elegance in simplicity.

The launch of Aria, Motivo, and Adagio Outdoor spotlights the longstanding collaboration between and , a partnership guided by a shared vision to transform ceramics into an expressive language, interweaving research, beauty, poetry, and material.

For Ronan Bouroullec, colour weaves through the project as its guiding thread, revealing its most authentic essence. His collections feature palettes with clear, unified identities, every shade conversing with the ceramic, turning it into a living canvas that unveils fresh perceptions shaped by space, light, and gaze.

Introducing Formatech by Florim X Gensler.

Formatech explores how porcelain surfaces can capture the quiet strength of three elemental materials - plaster, concrete, and metal - through Gensler’s architectural vision and Florim’s industrial expertise.

Without seeking to replicate these materials, Formatech interprets each one at a distinct moment in its lifecycle, resulting in a refined surface designed for lasting performance.

Sustainability and design go hand in hand for Florim. Formatech embodies this philosophy, balancing authenticity and innovation in a carbon-neutral surface that is both expressive and functional.

In the Being Mutina project, Patricia Urquiola’s Mater porcelain tiles transform into abstract architecture. Through the lens of internationally acclaimed artist Brigitte Niederman, sharply angled geometric surfaces overlap and disorient, creating depth and monumentality. Mater’s intricate linear patterns envelop the surfaces, spotlighting the material’s tactile quality.
