Every project I work on is guided by the same core principles:

Client collaboration: As much or as little as you can give; I will facilitate a collaborative approach to maximise listening and responding to you and your family’s needs.

Attention to detail: My superpower lies in my attention to detail. I see and hear everything and respond with design work accordingly.

Creative solutions: I’m tireless when it comes to coming up with new ideas. This is what I am truly passionate about. I want to make your space perfect.

Considered budgets: As a working parent, I understand the demands on finances, and if I commit to a budget I will do my absolute best to stick to it.

Sustainable practices: Sustainability is ours and our children’s future at stake. Interior design must respond to this through material and supplier choices, reuse and upcycling.

Functional design: With a background in experiential design, I know what it takes to understand user needs and requirements and translate this into the spaces I design.

Timeline management: My second superpower lies in time and project management. I’ll be on top of the needs of your project from the get-go.

Interior design is about far more than choosing colours, furniture and finishing touches. It’s about understanding how you live, solving problems, improving the flow and function of your space, and bringing all the elements together to create a cohesive home.

This blog post explores what an interior designer actually does — and why the beautiful finishing touches are only one small part of the process.

Top Tip: Handling neighbours before a renovation

Your neighbours can have more impact on your renovation than you might expect, so it’s worth thinking about them before work begins.

Party Wall: Check early whether you need a Party Wall Agreement. These can sometimes take 1–6 months, particularly if there are issues with neighbours signing off the works. Using a surveyor can help keep things constructive and moving smoothly.

Noise & dust: Let your neighbours know what work is happening and when. A little communication can go a long way.

Parking: Consider where your tradespeople will park and whether this could affect your neighbours or their usual parking arrangements.

The key? Communicate early, be considerate and keep your neighbours on side. It can make the renovation process much smoother for everyone.

The last few months of the year can result in many of us thinking ahead.

Whether it's finally tackling that renovation you've been putting off or making plans for the year ahead, now is the perfect time to start preparing - even if the work won't begin until next year.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is homeowners falling in love with ideas before understanding what they're likely to cost. Having a realistic budget from the outset doesn't limit your creativity; it gives you the confidence to make informed decisions and helps your project run far more smoothly.

A little planning now can save a lot of stress later.

If a renovation is on your 2027 wish list, my blog explores why early-stage budgeting is one of the best investments you can make before any work begins.

Top Tip: Take your moodboard one step further

A moodboard is a great way to establish the overall look and feel of a space, but the next step is bringing those ideas into the real world.

This is where a sample board comes in. Start gathering the actual fabrics, tiles, paint colours, wood finishes and metals you’re considering and see how they work together in person.

Colours and textures can look very different away from a screen, and placing your samples side by side helps you spot what works, what doesn’t, and where you might need to make adjustments.

It’s the point where your initial ideas start to become a considered, cohesive scheme - and it can make all the difference before you commit to your final choices.

Multifunctional Spaces: Top Tip

Don’t overlook those awkward corners and unused areas in your home - they can be the perfect opportunity to create a space that works harder for you.

Think about how you actually use your home and whether one area could serve more than one purpose. A quiet corner could become a home office and reading nook, while an unused section of a room could combine storage with a seating area.

The key to making multifunctional spaces feel intentional is cohesion. Use a consistent colour palette, complementary textures, and similar materials to visually link the different functions together.

For example, this family room at the Winchmore house -
Instead of traditional alcove shelving, we transformed the space into a combined desk/office and family area

Take a look at my recent top finds:

First up, the Radius Fonsotone and Slatted Wood Planters from West Elm. With their clean lines, natural tones, and warm textures, they would be a beautiful addition to a modern home. Use them to fill an empty corner, define the end of a zone, or simply bring a little more interest and texture into a space.

Next, the Tidy Foot Step Stool from Boori. This lovely little kids’ stool is both practical and versatile, with plenty of uses around the home. Currently reduced from £42.99 to £32.99, it would look particularly lovely alongside a green and blue colour palette, or in a colourful children’s room with soft pastel shades.

And finally, this beautiful diffuser - a simple way to introduce colour, scent, and a decorative touch to your space. I love how it can complement a carefully considered colour palette, while looking much more stylish on display than the standard diffuser bottle.
