And that's a wrap on Decorex 2026!

Thank you to everyone who came and chatted away with us on our stand. We had a great time across the four days.

Thank you also to the team who stood around that island from open to close, answering every question thrown at them! And the workshop team who made this stand possible. One thing we can say for certain is it's not easy putting together a handmade mini-kitchen, pantry, and bar in under a day in the middle of Olympia, but they made it possible.

When these clients relocated from London, they arrived with a very particular vision: a minimalist, Scandinavian kitchen they'd first fallen for in Sweden. Sourcing it directly proved near impossible, so they came to us to bring that distinct Nordic look to life, handmade and fully bespoke.

The result is a warm, light-filled family kitchen where dark-stained oak meets minimalist matte white, with a dramatic bookmatched porcelain splashback, grounded by light oak herringbone flooring. The tambour-curved island end panels serve as a nod to high-end Swedish design.

Off to one side, the client wanted a bar zone, so a bar zone we gave them! The deliberately contrasting sage-green space is complete with fluted glass doors and an integrated w**e cooler, accented with our Inset Handles in an aged brass finish. The perfect transition piece between cooking and dining zones.

Behind the scenes on the build of our stand for Decorex👀 Almost ready to be picked up and shipped to London.

Decorex is Europe's biggest event for high-end interior design, and we'll spend four days with thousands of designers, architects, and specifiers, all coming together to meet people who have a passion for all things interiors.

Marble, quartz, granite, oak, even metal: the worktop shapes how a kitchen feels, so we treat choosing it as part of the design rather than a box to tick. A honed marble softens a room, a leathered granite hides the marks made by a busy family kitchen, and a single stave of oak ages beautifully alongside you.

Often we'll use more than one type of worktop across a single kitchen, so the island can do something the rest of the room doesn't, and stand out in its own right. It's one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole process. If you're not sure where to begin, that's exactly what a first conversation is for, so do get in touch.

In print this month📖

Our very own Tim Higham designed this Teddington kitchen, featured in the October issue of Period Living magazine in a lighting piece called Illuminating Thoughts.

This kitchen has two small rule-breaks which we're rather fond of.

Convention says pendants over an island should be in odd numbers. But this homeowner was set on a different count to the three over the dining table beyond, so we went with two oversized brass domes. The pair has more presence than three would, and lets the eye travel through the kitchen.

The second is the detail Tim spoke to the magazine about: Pooky Lighting's Tina adjustable wall lights paired with floating shelves. Wall lights don't usually double as task lighting, and floating shelves don't usually get their own dedicated wash of light, but here, the same fitting does both, depending on where you pull it to using the pantograph.

The Barnes kitchen we made was featured in KBB magazine online, in a great piece on the waterfall island in particular, and the benefits of having one.

The marble top carries on over the corner and down to the floor rather than stopping at an end panel. The rest of the room is a hushed Little Greene Mushroom, so the island needs to hold its own, and the stone running down the side is a good part of what allows it to.

We also adopted this style in a Rickmansworth kitchen, which we finished last year. The style of the room is completely different, with pale panelled cabinetry, herringbone floors, and a Spider Gold quartz worktop. But the same waterfall-style detail on the island is there, and we think it earns its place there for much the same reason.

The one part of having a home you can guarantee is walking in at one point or another with wet coats, muddy shoes, a soggy dog, umbrellas, bags, and other bits and bobs from the day. All of that has to go somewhere.

A boot room is the answer to avoiding potential mess or clutter. Having one means the kitchen stays a kitchen and the entry hall stays an entry hall. In here, the coats have a hook (with plenty space for guests), the wellies have a spot, sometimes even the dog has a designated space. And there's a bench to sit on while you pull your boots off.

"Warm minimalism" has been one of the defining looks of 2026, as outlined in KBB Focus. And here at Higham, we’re embracing a move away from cool whites and greys.

This Farnham kitchen is our take on that trend. A slim-framed Shaker in a Vert de Terre-matched green, with a pale oak island finished in Rubio White Oak for that soft, Scandi-blond effect. A curved inglenook wraps the Everhot range, heavy concrete pendants ground the island, and honed Carrara marble tops it.

The influence is Northern European, with textured organic materials and neutral palettes, all highlighted by natural light. Pared back, but never cold.

Mushroom and Nether Red might sound like a bold pairing, but in this Barnes kitchen they settle into something unexpectedly serene.
