So much to love 🌳💜🖼️⛲️
The entrance busts in the garden wall always draw my eye into one of the best preserved 17th-century country houses in England. My favorite room is the Green Closet 💚 with its silk walls, miniature portraits, painted ceiling and inlaid Japanese export lacquer cabinets on gilded stands. I love how this jewel of an intimate space sits just beyond the Long Gallery with its grand portraits — originally a place for exercise and art-viewing in bad weather, but also a powerful display of political alliance.

Beautiful Chartwell! Winston Churchill’s country home from 1922-1965 is now part of the 🌳 It was purchased by Churchill’s friends in 1946 when he was under considerable financial constraints. The home originally dates back to 1382 and has been added on over the years. The video with the flags on the ceiling show the oldest parts of the manor.
