A successful kitchen project is about more than just cabinetry, it's about reimagining the entire space. We saw the opportunity to create a seamless connection between the kitchen and the garden, and by removing structural walls, we were able to achieve exactly that. The result is a beautiful, open-plan space that feels both functional and cohesive.

At Kitchens by Holloways, we believe the magic is in the details. This project was all about transforming an uninspired and impractical kitchen into a true masterpiece.

By focusing on the finer points, we not only improved the aesthetic but also created a more functional space. We significantly increased storage and improved the layout, from the intricate fluting detail on the island to the stunning marble worktops and herringbone splashback. The new cornicing and panelling create a seamless flow, connecting the space to the rest of the home. It’s these thoughtful touches that elevate a kitchen from simply a room to the heart of the home, a space designed not just for cooking, but for living.

By expertly reconfiguring the structural layout of this Clapham home, we divided the large, open-plan space into distinct zones. We achieved this by using a new straight wall to begin the definition of the lounge area, and by incorporating a required pillar between the living and dining areas into the design to further help define each zone. Bespoke joinery, including eye-popping blue cabinetry and mouldings on the walls, was also used to make the TV area feel like an independent space. The result is a clean, contemporary home with a clear sense of purpose for each space.

Our Church Road project in Richmond is a beautiful example of how our design approach can honour a home's heritage while introducing modern functionality. By removing a wall and adding pocket doors, we created a seamless flow between the kitchen and living areas, making the space feel more connected and inviting. The addition of a cosy window seat not only maximises natural light but also adds a charming, intimate spot for a morning coffee.

This complete kitchen redesign turned an impractical space into a beautiful and functional hub. The new design makes better use of alcoves, featuring a built-in wine storage unit and a new breakfast larder for improved storage. The space is elevated by a stunning marble splashback and worktops, complemented by intricate fluting detail on the island cabinetry. We added cornicing and panelling to ensure a cohesive look that flows seamlessly into the next room. This project demonstrates that with clever design, a sophisticated and efficient kitchen can be achieved.

By thoughtfully incorporating a graceful curve into the kitchen island, we were able to solve a critical design challenge. The curve not only enhances the aesthetic, but it also transforms a potential "pinch point" into a practical, flowing walkthrough space.

Our Design Director, Charles Elwell, explains, "integrating the curve into the island design allows us to maintain the centralisation of the island, without compromising on its size whilst still providing a really practical flow through what would have otherwise been an awkward space." This design decision, mirrored by a corresponding curve in the opposite bookshelf, demonstrates how we harmonise form and function to create a space that is both beautiful and intuitively practical.
