BATHROOM • keeping it simple. Any new room design can feel a bit overpowering, especially when renovating bathrooms. This small bathroom gets a lot of love which is quite satisfying as it’s relatively simple in its design. By stealing a bit of space from the adjoining room, the wall where the shower is was pushed back slightly to allow for a deeper walk-in shower space where originally the bath had been. In terms of decoration, we made a feature of the checkerboard flooring then blended the bath panel with the shower area and bathing zone using simple metro tiles. Creates a stylish, calming space.

This second bathroom concept has a similar formula but uses simple square neutral tiles as the backdrop for the bathing area and allows the statement flooring to come forward. A mid-height wall zones the shower area nicely without making it feel too closed off from the window, so it keeps it nice and bright but contains the splash!

AI and design • whilst creating numerous design visuals over the last week it’s really highlighted to me that yes, AI is powerful and definitely can speed up design steps for some basic visual tasks, but successful application still very much relies on that human touch. We still need to understand feeling. How does a client want a space to feel on an emotional level? Understanding unusual spaces, limitations or imperfections and how to embrace these when creating unique, personal spaces still is very much about a ‘human’ feeling ❤️

OFFICE • SHELVING • Many clients require an area within their home for ‘work’ and it’s important to think about storage when designing these spaces. Open shelving can look really wonderful and soften a full wall of storage but it’s a good idea to consider an element of ‘hidden storage’ for the bits that maybe don’t look quite so nice on show.
