“We often start a scheme based around a piece of art. You can do so much to a room with it. It transforms any space.

I was looking at a Van Gogh painting today. You’d only need that one piece of art in your whole house and it would be complete. You’d be laughing!”

Philippa Thorp in a recent interview discussing the role art plays in our projects and how the studio approaches curating collections for our clients.

A tremendous thank you to Nicky Rampley-Clarke for including us in this feature on pool houses and heatwaves, and to our client for kindly allowing us to share imagery of his London pool house.

As for Philippa’s own Hampshire pool house, which she discusses in the article, stay tuned. We’ll be sharing that one very soon.

Take a peek inside this Gentleman’s Study.

The distressed verde leather inlay to the British racing green joinery sits beautifully against the hand-printed wallpaper, together creating a balance between strength and softness.

We particularly love the touches of bronze that run throughout, from the Kenneth Armitage artworks and chair studs to the joinery handles and arms of the lights.

Pelham Place. Completed in 1988.

A street adorned with late Georgian and early-Victorian neo-classical terraced houses, Pelham Place showcases beautiful classical proportions, decorative ironwork, and tall multi-pane sash windows.

Thorp introduced box hedging in the front garden as well as the natural stone throughout to add to the impact on arrival.

Stay tuned for the interiors.

Thorp’s recent inclusion in the Country & Town House interiors issue 2026, gives a little insight into the studio, how we work, who our little black book of contacts are, how we don’t champion a “house style” and some quick-fire questions with Philippa.

Special mention to VANDERHURD, Blue Book and Fiona Finds ®

Before anything else, you should know this photograph was taken in 36°C heat. If anything, please give it a like for that alone!!!

We recently revisited this beautiful project Thorp completed a few years ago. Situated in the glorious English countryside, the house is steeped in history. We wanted to honour that heritage while introducing a contemporary way of living.

The conversation between tradition and modernity runs throughout the home. This timber-panelled library offers just a small glimpse of it.

A tremendous thank you to our clients for so kindly welcoming us back. It was both a joy and a privilege to revisit this very special home.

A hallway of dreams! Fortuny lampshades, fabric walling, antique furnishings, and to top it all off a Magnolia branch sculpture in bronze and ceramic. It’s enough to make us swoon!
