The sweet smell of caramelising onions wafting through the market is enough to get any tummy rumbling, especially when they’re served up on top of a gourmet hot dog from the gorgeous team at .london

Back in 2015 husband and wife, Simon and Mila, tired of working in restaurants, dreamed of becoming their own bosses. A visit to Greenwich market, with its vibrant atmosphere, inspired the pair to make their dreams a reality. Since then the dynamic duo have poured their heart and soul into what they do. Even when pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, their determination and team work prevailed.

In March 2023, they met Giancarlo, who recognized the immense potential of their business. Together, they forged an unstoppable partnership. In 2023 they won “Best Mobile Trader” in the Best of Royal Greenwich Awards – we couldn’t be more proud.

A real family business, the key to their success lies at the heart of what they do – The Sausage. Their signature recipe was hand crafted by Simon’s dad, an expert in the field with over 35 years’ experience under his belt.

“The Sausage undergoes two processes: cooking and smoking. We use only the best cut of pork meat. The meat content in The Sausage is 93%.” Simon tells us.

“Our mission is to revolutionize the perception of hot dogs. We believe they deserve a place in the culinary conversation, beyond being seen as a low-quality and processed fast food option.”

Although the sausage is undeniably the star of the show, these hot dogs are a feast for the eyes and well as the belly. Offering a variety of traditional and innovative toppings, from red cabbage to crispy onions, the team ensure that each dog is work of art.

“We use only quality ingredients and we strive to put as much of ourselves into it as possible by making our own sauces or caramelising onions in our own unique way.”

“At The Sausage, we are not just business owners; we are regular people who cherish life, have families, dreams, and goals. We are driven by the courage to pursue our passions and create a brand that reflects our values and aspirations.”

Filling our bellies, and our hearts, the team serve up hot dogs with a smile 7 days a week!

They've always been our morning favourite, and now the team at Ideal Espresso have been recognised by the as being one of the best coffee spots in London.

You can find them in the very first London edition of the Indy Coffee Guide, with a full page write-up.

A committee of industry experts worked together to identify the best cafés and coffee spots in the capital and found one under our market roof.

Alongside the usual city hot-shots and big names in the coffee scene, Ideal demonstrate how great things come from small market stalls - proving that first-class coffee doesn't have to be pretentious.

In our over-saturated coffee society, Ideal put Greenwich on the map as being the best for miles around.

We couldn't be more proud of the hard work and dedication that the team put in to ensure that each coffee is as good as that first sip.

Plain Bear have been selling their simple and stylish designs at Greenwich Market since 2013. When it comes to casual, colourful clothing these guys have got you covered head-to-toe. From socks to caps, tees, sweaters and beanies there’s fun and playful designs in bold and beautiful colours.

The team of screen-printers, seamstresses and designers are led by self-proclaimed maverick, Frank Whitford. Inspired by the contemporary minimalist style that he came across while studying sculpture, Frank, fresh out of university worked with the Prince’s Trust to start Plain Bear.

Their ethos is simple – less is more when it comes to design, and originality is always key. They don’t follow fads and believe that good design should be timeless. Their distinctive style has always been driven by their signature screen printing – focusing on clean lines and sharp silhouettes.

From their very first hand-crafted silk screen studio Plain Bear has been about making things from scratch, starting with a handmade exposure unit, do-it-yourself wash booth and knocked up dark room. More than ten years on and the printing process is still all done in house, from exposing the screens to printing and packing, it’s a hands on job.

“All our designs are printed on our 4 pallet, 6 screen carousel. Flashed dried, belt cured, we fold and pack with care, all by hand,” says Frank, “It is our passion to keep as much creativity as possible within our own walls.”

A few years ago Frank and the team moved their studio from Peckham, South East London, all the way up to Kelham Island in Sheffield where they are currently based. We asked Frank why despite the distance, he continues to trade at Greenwich Market.

“It’s the original location, our home roots. We held our very first stall here and haven’t looked back. We have cemented ourselves into the local hearts,” he says, “The stall itself has evolved over time, currently keeping it simple but always looking to adapt.”

You can catch the Plain Bear team every Friday-Sunday with their range of eye catching colour blends, standout designs and coordinating accessories.

After travelling around Italy and Spain, the two German sisters, Alex and Susanne, came to London with a dream inspired by their childhood.

"Wholemeal bread and cakes became very popular in Germany in the 80s." The pair recall fondly, "Our father started to bake our own bread when he came home in the evening, so we grew up with it."

"Knowing that wholemeal products, cakes and biscuits are more healthy for our bodies and souls, we decided to bring this to London"

They combine traditional German recipes with their own tasty twists, so that their mouthwatering treats leaving you feeling as good as they taste!

From classic wholegrain loaves, poppyseed cheesecake and wholemeal chocolate cookies, to homebaked spelt crispbread, the ladies are always trying out new recipes alongside crowd pleasers like their wholemeal banana bread with chocolate and nuts.

They often combine their hearty wholemeal goodness with fresh fruit to create beautiful mouthfuls. Think juicy apricots, tart berries and comforting apple crumble. And don't forget their classic Zwetschgendatschi - German plum cake!

The boys at Clarks Furniture know what they're doing when it comes to unique and characterful home furnishings.

The family run business pride themselves on making environmentally friendly furniture, locally sourcing sustainable reclaimed materials.

In a world of fast-paced flat-pack furniture, these boys are going against the grain and making pieces that are designed to make a statement and last a lifetime.

"Using reclaimed materials is a very conscientious and sustainable way to make or buy furniture." Tony tells us, "With the planets resources at an all time low we all need to think about the effect that buying mass produced furniture is having on the world's forests."

Instead Clarks appreciate the value in respectfully repurposing and reinventing. Their one-of-a-kind works are packed with history and make great conversation starters - from dining tables made of dancefloors, to wine racks made of reclaimed London roof joists, they blend form and function to create stylish furniture that has a story to tell.

"Using reclaimed materials will often mean you end up with a piece of unique furniture and also get the chance to design your very own antique for the future!"

You can find the lads at the market every Sunday, get chatting and see if they can help you make your reclaimed dreams come true.

Come down to the market today and you can find our lovely maker, designer and local resident, Sue Jenkins.

Sue became a crafter age five, learning to knit, crochet, embroider and make candles. For the past 12 years, she’s set up stall at Greenwich Market, putting to use all of these skills to make beautiful nostalgic gifts.

“Inspiration comes from many sources, nature, the sky, my rabbit Norman, sometimes I just need to hold the yarn in my hands to see what it’s going to be.” Sue tells us.

“With my Tealight Candles, often the starting point is the antique or vintage teacup. Once I’ve researched its history, it will inspire an aroma that I blend from pure essential oils and combine with a clean burning veggie-based wax. I then hand-pour each candle.”

Her collection of vintage teacups have been growing since her student days when went to Art College in Sunderland and Brighton to study diplomas in design and textiles and a degree in Design History.

You can see the love that goes into every one of her items. Sue says, “It’s important to me that all my materials are responsibly sourced and I’d like to think that my creations have a long and happy life once they leave my stall.”

Sue’s passion for her craft is matched by her dedication to continuous learning and development.

“I started designing knitwear using cotton and plant viscose when most commercially available yarns were made from acrylic or a generic ‘wool’, and it’s been an amazing happy time to grow up learning about new yarns as they arrive on the market.”

“I love yarns and fabrics, and knitting and crochet. And designing new things. I love tea, I love tea drinking and china and the history and the ceremony. I love antiques and materials, and the history of materials. I love lavender and all herbs, and aromas and combining scents and candlemaking. I love texture and light and photography. Love my collection of papier-mâché tea trays! And I love, love, love that I can combine all my favourite things at my stall at Greenwich Market!"

When she's not busy in her garden shed you can find Sue at the market Wednesday and Friday, or follow her
