Generously proportioned and beautifully balanced, it pairs a rich painted black frame with a luxurious white Carrara marble top — the softly curved edge of the marble adding an elegant, sculptural quality.

Beautifully turned front legs, chunky timber to the reverse and two working drawers with understated linear detailing give this piece plenty of character and presence.

A beautiful French writing desk, full of graceful details and warm, timeworn character.

Crafted in rich walnut with decorative marquetry, this elegant little desk would have been equally at home as a writing desk or sewing table, with its hinged top, drawer and wonderfully useful lower shelf.

The gently curving lines and decorative details have a lovely Art Nouveau influence, while the warm tones of the walnut make it an effortlessly beautiful piece for a bedroom, study or quiet corner of the home.

Here we’ve styled it with a pair of ochre French confit pots — the smaller one is particularly special — alongside a wonderfully characterful vintage chair upholstered in the most beautiful velvety mustard, finished with a frou frou tassel trim.

A beautiful collection of French oil vessels, all with their own distinctive character. 🤎

With their generous, rotund forms, softly weathered terracotta and subtle matte glazes, these are pieces that feel as though they belong to another time — and they tell a lovely story of everyday French life.

Traditionally used to store precious walnut oil, these handmade vessels were produced by local potters throughout France, with shapes, proportions, handles and finishes varying from one region to another. No two are quite alike and each carries the marks of the hands that made it long with the years that followed.

We particularly love the beautiful simplicity of them. Once entirely practical objects, their sculptural silhouettes have an undeniable presence today — equally at home gathered on a farmhouse table, lined along a shelf or standing proudly on the floor.

A little piece of French history, and proof that the most beautiful objects don’t always begin life as decoration. ✨

A little bit of French luxury… 🤍

A beautiful antique French washstand, crafted in warm, rich oak and topped with a wonderful white Carrara marble.

There’s something about the combination of the honeyed oak, cool white marble and beautifully turned front legs that makes this piece feel effortlessly elegant. Underneath, a shapely lower shelf provides useful storage, while the full-width drawer above is beautifully made with traditional dovetail joints.

We love its elegant decorative features, the beautiful craftsmanship and gentle marks of a long and well-loved life.

A wonderful piece for a bedroom, bathroom or simply somewhere that deserves a little French joie de vivre. ✨

A wonderful collection of handcrafted folk art toadstools, all with their own beautifully timeworn character. Layers of hand-painted colour have softened and faded over the years, creating the kind of patina only time can bestow.

A wonderful collection of hand-crafted wooden toadstools, beautifully timeworn with layers of faded paint and natural patina.

We took them over to Fi’s folks’ house, where tortoises Libby and Jimmy stopped by to admire them (in between paddling in the stream and trundling around the garden).

These early folk art examples are full of character and whimsy. We think they look perfect sitting quietly on a windowsill, shelf or dresser, bringing a touch of unexpected woodland charm to any interior.

Once a humble workhorse of the French countryside, this beautiful rustic blue wheelbarrow now makes a wonderfully decorative garden feature.

Painted in charrette bleu — the distinctive blue traditionally seen on shutters throughout Provence — this late 19th-century piece is rich in character and authenticity. Constructed from solid pine and hardwoods, with iron mounts and original spoked wheels, it has been beautifully weathered by time and full of charm.

A beautiful matching pair of antique pine chest of drawers, full of character and charm. In lovely condition throughout, with smooth-running drawers and a wonderfully warm tone enhanced by a fresh coat of beeswax.

This handsome duo would make fabulous oversized bedside tables, their lower height perfect for statement lamps, while the generous drawers provide excellent storage.

Solid, well-crafted pieces with minor age-related wear consistent with their history and use. Finished with an original maker’s stamp to the reverse — Neate & Son, Pewsey, Wiltshire.
