Designing for a narrow galley kitchen doesn’t mean you have to compromise on atmosphere. My clients wanted their space to feel light, airy and inviting, so I focused on natural textures and finishes to bring that feeling to life.

We chose warm wooden cabinetry, marble surfaces, and light-coloured walls to reflect light and keep the space feeling open. Glass pendant lights, open shelving and artwork inspired by leaves and nature all help reinforce that calm, organic vibe. And to top it off, we tucked a seating island at the far end—perfect for morning coffee or casual chats while cooking.

Would you go for a galley kitchen in your home, or do you prefer something more open plan?

Anyone who knows me well knows that I spend a large portion of my free time with my nose buried in a book. So naturally, the space I read in is really important to me—it has to be cosy, inviting, and somewhere I can curl up in a ball with a good story!

When I moved out of my parents’ house, I wanted to redecorate my room so it still felt like my space but could also be used comfortably by guests. Creating a dedicated reading nook was a must. A cosy armchair, a soft cushion, and a side table for my coffee (and pastries!) made all the difference. I also added personal decorations—pieces that mean a lot to me—to make the space truly feel like home. It’s a reminder that interior design isn’t just about how a room looks, but how it feels and functions for the way you live.

My husband and I love entertaining, so I really appreciate how important a well-designed dining space can be, especially one that connects to the kitchen, making prep and tidying both quick and sociable.

This sample board was created for a client who also loves hosting family gatherings and wanted the space to feel calm and welcoming.

What would you say is the most important feature in a dining room? Not sure what to do with your dining room? Get in touch for a free 30-minute chat about how I can help!

Textures are the unsung heroes of interior design. They have the power to transform a space, adding depth, interest, and warmth. A well-balanced combination of textures not only enhances the aesthetic but also influences the feel of a room.

From the softness of a velvet cushion to the crispness of linen curtains, textures create a sensory experience that adds layers to your design. Think about pairing a smooth, sleek leather chair with a chunky wool throw, or a glass coffee table with a tactile, woven rug underneath—each element brings something unique to the table.

Textures also play a huge role in creating balance. Mixing different textures—matte with shiny, soft with rough—keeps the eye moving around the room and prevents things from feeling flat. It’s the little details that make a room feel rich and full of life.

How do you like to mix textures in your home?If you're ready to bring more texture into your space, get in touch—I’d love to help you create a home that feels as good as it looks!

There’s something special about slow, peaceful mornings—lounging under the covers with a hot coffee, a good book, or just watching the world wake up outside your window.

The right bedroom design can make these moments even better, turning your space into a true retreat.Soft, layered bedding is a must—think breathable cotton or linen sheets, plush duvets, and plenty of cushions for extra comfort. A well-placed bedside table keeps everything within reach, whether it’s a cup of tea, a scented candle, or your latest read. And don’t forget lighting—soft, warm lighting helps create a cosy, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for easing into the day.

Whether you love Sunday lie-ins or quiet weekday mornings, designing a bedroom that feels restful and inviting makes all the difference.

Lighting: The Secret Ingredient to Interior Design

Lighting has the power to transform a space, yet it’s often an afterthought in the design process. The right lighting doesn’t just make a room look beautiful—it sets the mood, enhances colours and textures, and ensures the space is functional for everyday living. From soft ambient lighting that creates a cosy atmosphere to statement pendants that add personality, every choice plays a role. Layering different types—ambient, task, and accent lighting—helps create balance, depth, and flexibility throughout the day.

This photo shows just how much lighting can change the look and feel of a room. Here, on our dining room mantelpiece, the wall is painted in Dulux Frosted Steel—a colour I adore because of how beautifully it responds to different light. On the left, natural light from our north-facing window brings out its cooler tones, while on the right, a warm bulb adds depth and softness. It’s a perfect example of how lighting affects colour and atmosphere.
