The Gunnera Collection: a collaboration with .
The Gunnera artwork from our Chelsea stand has now sold. Two more works from the collection are currently available and on display at Luke Irwin, 54 Pimlico Road, London SW1W 8LP.
A passionate naturalist, Luke approached us with the idea of creating a series of pressed Gunnera leaves harvested from the grounds of his house – something we had been longing to try for years and were eager to collaborate on.

In Luke’s own words —
“These magnificent Gunnera leaves come from my garden in Wiltshire but the story is rather more wonderful than just picking monumental leaves. In early 2016 while laying an electricity cable to a barn I discovered a Roman mosaic. Historic England quickly became involved and did an extensive archaeological dig in the field 20 feet from my front door. There they discovered an enormous Roman villa which was 3 or 4 storeys tall and seemed to measure 400 metres in each dimension. This led me to design the Mosaic rug collection which was very groundbreaking in rug design and construction.
10 years later I thought that it would be interesting focus on the organic forms from this same garden and to press the gunnera leaves which I cut from beside an ancient Roman well. Gunnera is 90 million years old and is one of the oldest known plants on the planet. I love the thought that this gunnera may have been in the garden when the Romans were there almost 2,000 years ago and is yet another tangible link between the past and the present.” Luke Irwin
