Reflecting at the end of a busy week of African print rag wreath workshops in schools, my takeaway has definitely been to never make assumptions and to constantly adapt.

When describing how to approach the task at hand, I told the primary school aged children that it was 'just like tying their shoelaces' .... to which a few responded, 'but Miss, I can't tie my shoelaces'.

What an assumption to make!

I then had to quickly adapt how I described the task and will now take it on board for future workshops with children.

And what I really loved was seeing their joy when they were able to do the task and learn a new skill - despite not being able to tie their shoelaces ✨️
