Located in the heart of Tottenham Court Road, Pastino serves authentic Italian pasta and rich flavours of Italy. We kept the space simple with a materials pallette of terrazzo, marble and natural oak.

The emphasis for this space was on flow and speed to facilitate the lunchtime market and office workers around the area. We allowed for flexibility on the ground floor for peak times for customers to grab and go as well as creating a seating area on the mezzanine for customers with a bit more time.

Pastino is open 7 days a week 11am - 10pm

At Flat Iron Kings Cross, we collaborated with the team to refurbish and revitalize the basement dining area, ensuring it felt just as inviting as the ground floor.

To brighten the space, we introduced new lighting and ceiling treatments, creating a more open and airy atmosphere. By opening up blocked walls and exposing the building’s original braces, we enhanced sightlines and revealed the character of the space.

Infused with Flat Iron’s signature design elements, the basement now features striking focal points in opposite corners, brought to life with feature lighting and signature planting.

Templar is a new Italian restaurant and Wine Bar in the newly developed area of Stratford Cross in London's East End.

For this concept, Block1 design researched and took inspiration from some of Italy's most notable architects and designers. Carlo Scarper, Gio Ponti, and Ico Parisi. We wanted to reimagine and challenge the norms of what an Italian restaurant should be.

The restaurant’s interior channels the classic style of Italy’s post-World War II design movement, famous for its refined modernism and creative innovation. Elements of warm wood tones, leather seating, and clean, geometric lines create an atmosphere of understated glamour, while classic Italian influences like terrazzo flooring, marble countertops, and stainless steel accents bring timeless appeal.

We wanted to pay homage to the amazing modernist design that has emerged from Italy, be it architecture, furniture design, and or lighting.

The interior unfolds in layers, with an open-plan layout that effortlessly connects the bar, dining area, and private spaces. Architectural touches such as arched, glass brick portals, and low-slung furniture further enhance the mood, evoking a sense of both intimacy and sophistication. Every design choice reflects the spirit of Italian design, emphasizing both functionality and beauty.
