From our factory floor to a new-build extension in London.

These bespoke timber French doors were manufactured, painted and fully finished by our team in Orpington before being installed in their new setting.

Finished in Farrow & Ball No. 317 Kakelugn, the traditional design was made entirely to measure for the property.

Not every window installation in London needs scaffolding.

When only a few windows need replacing several floors up, erecting scaffolding around an entire building isn’t always the most practical solution.

For high-level window replacement projects like this, we work alongside professional abseilers - specialist rope access technicians who provide the external access and support our window installation team needs when working at height.

While our fitters work from inside, the abseilers work from the outside, helping with the positioning and installation of the windows. It requires careful planning, clear communication and close coordination between everyone involved, particularly when working several storeys above a busy London street.

Rope access window installation gives us another way to approach buildings where external access would otherwise be difficult, without the scale, time and disruption of extensive scaffolding for a relatively small area of work.

And when your working day takes you this high above London, the view isn’t bad either.

Different buildings bring different access challenges. Knowing how to adapt the installation method to each project is part of what we do as London window manufacturers and installers.

Not every timber sash window replacement has to start from nothing.

These stained glass panels have been part of the house for decades, original, distinctive and well worth preserving. Rather than losing them when the old windows were replaced, Specialist Glass London encapsulated each panel between two layers of new, clear glass, creating triple-glazed encapsulated stained glass units. It is a process that requires precision and specialist knowledge.

Those units have now been fitted into bespoke timber Vertical Sliding sash windows manufactured here at Grabex. The original character remains, now within new timber windows built to modern standards of thermal insulation and energy efficiency.

Once installed, the stained glass will return to the same house and the same positions it has occupied for years, but this time as part of windows that perform very differently from the ones they are replacing.

Projects like this depend on close coordination: specialist glazing made to precise dimensions and bespoke heritage windows manufactured to accommodate something far from standard.

The finished frame may be slim. The work behind it is anything but.

Starting with an empty structural opening, this HiVision25 sliding door was assembled and fitted on site. Careful preparation and accurate fitting are what allow an aluminium door of this scale to look and operate as it should.

As a London-based manufacturer and installer, we manage the entire process ourselves, from production to fitting on site.

With a visible interlock of only 25mm, this slim aluminium sliding door maximises the glass area while keeping the frame to a minimum.

The wider project is still underway, but the sliding door installation is complete.

Three panes of glass. 260 kg each. All for one set of Hi-Vision 25 slim aluminium sliding doors at the back of the house.

A crane wasn’t a practical option within the project budget, and the narrow, uneven access ruled out our glass-handling robot. So the method had to fit the site, not the other way round.

Using professional suction lifters, a six-person team moved each pane around the house by hand, with a single-wheeled timber cart taking on part of the weight along the route. Once at the back of the property, the glass was carefully lifted and set into its prepared frame.

Projects like this are where knowledge and experience matter most. When the obvious methods aren’t available, we know how to assess the alternatives and find a safe, practical way forward, helping our clients achieve the result they envisioned, even when the route to it is less straightforward.

Made for a period property, this bespoke window combines authentic proportions, Georgian bars and Antiqued Brass hardware with a modern glazing specification designed to improve thermal and energy performance.

Finished in Farrow & Ball No. 31 Railings externally and No. 85 Oval Room Blue internally, it respects the character of the property while meeting the needs of a modern home.
