 inclusion means nothing without provision
Support needs action, not promises
See the child, not the cost!
😭😡🌻
Outside the Classroom is a protest piece responding to the government white paper Every Child Achieving and Thriving: Reforms to the Schools and SEND Systems in England. The painting explores the emotional impact of exclusion within the SEND and EHCP system, questioning whether proposed reforms truly protect vulnerable children. Two children wait beneath a sign reading “Wait Here for Support” while a classroom of “learning” and “inclusion” remains visible only through a distant window. Beside them, a towering bin marked “TRASH EHCPS” symbolises discarded provision, lost opportunities, and the fear of futures abandoned by the systems designed to protect them. Through stark contrasts of warmth and isolation, the work captures the grief, frustration, and resilience of families fighting not simply for paperwork, but for access to education, dignity, and belonging.
