Here at Norris Bedding, we've been hand-making our Classic range for generations.

Starting with an Open coil spring unit which is layered with horsehair or coconut weaved through hessian (these are changed seasonally) then topped with two layers of pure cotton.

Our Classic mattresses are tufted with rosettes and encased in our 100% cotton black and white striped ticking or plain cream fabric and is a mattress will stand the test of time...

In fact, it's not unusual for us to collect a 30 year old Classic when delivering a new one.

We recently made both a custom cutout mattress and a sprung base for a four-poster that demanded precision.

The curves, the ornate footwork, the architectural detail...

These aren't design flourishes. They're non-negotiable.

Where it all began...

Norris Bedding was established just after World War 2 by Reg Norris, shortly followed by his brother John, thus naming the company R J Norris at the premises in Camberwell, South London in 1947.

They started out as upholsterers and then moved into making mattresses the following year.

Reg continued with the upholstery trade and moved to a new workshop in Blackheath while John stayed with the bedding side of the firm based at Camberwell.

Later in 1982 John was joined by his son Anthony. In September 1995 John retired but is still fondly remembered by customers, while Anthony continues to head the family business.

In 2006 the manufacturing side was moved to Rotherhithe and then in 2007 relocated to a brand new unit at Belvedere, Kent, where you can still call ahead and arrange a visit to see how these mattresses are made and try them out for yourself.

Today, Norris supplies it’s beds to some of the very best hotels, top interior designers and private houses around the world

People who've slept on a Norris mattress don't come back for the brand, they come back because they remember how they slept.

That's what happens when you refuse to compromise on something as personal as sleep.

78 years. 3 generations. 1 family still making every mattress by hand.
