If I could only thrift one thing this summer, it would be vintage Pyrex.

Not because I need another piece. 😅

Because every time I find it, I’m reminded of the kitchens I grew up in. The kind where dinner was on the table every night, recipes were written on index cards, and the cupboards were filled with bowls that had already seen decades of birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings.

I love that something made 40, 50, or even 60 years ago is still being used, collected, and appreciated. In a world where so much is disposable, vintage Pyrex feels like a connection to a slower time.

Now I’m curious...

If you could only thrift ONE thing all summer, what would it be?

Remember when we talked about trends a few days ago?

A surprising number of people said Americana, patriotic décor and collectibles would become more popular as America approaches its 250th anniversary.

We visited a couple of antique stores today, and it was hard not to notice how much red, white, and blue was already showing up. Not just the colors, but patriotic glassware, flags, Americana lunchboxes, and even a star-spangled rotary phone.

Coincidence… or are we already starting to see it?

What do you think? 🇺🇸👀

This Fenton Strawberry Swung vase is so cute, I couldn’t pass on it.

What do you think, pick or pass?

One of the things I love most about thrifting is knowing these pieces were part of someone else’s life before they became part of mine.

These things may be secondhand, but the memories attached to them are priceless.

Maybe that’s why vintage feels different. It comes with a history already built in.

Thrifting rule #1: Check everything.

Found this cute lemon squishmallow today… until I noticed all the little black spots. 🍋😬

One thing I always inspect carefully is stuffed animals. Mold, mildew, stains, odors, and even signs of pests can hide in fabric items, especially if they’ve been stored for years.

Cute? Yes.

Coming home with me? Absolutely not.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve found while inspecting a thrift store item?

I think that’s why I keep coming back to thrift stores and antique malls.

You walk in looking for nothing in particular, and somehow leave attached to an old bowl, a handwritten recipe card, or a teacup that reminds you of someone you haven’t thought about in years. The best finds aren’t always valuable, they’re just meaningful in ways you can’t really explain.

Half the fun is never knowing what’s waiting on the next shelf.

I’ve realized most people who love vintage aren’t really collecting objects.

They’re collecting memories. Comfort. Nostalgia. Little reminders of people, places, and moments that mattered. An old mixing bowl can remind someone of their grandmother’s kitchen faster than a photograph ever could.

That’s what makes secondhand feel special to me. The history stays with it.
