There is a face I have at 4am that I do not put on the internet.

Puffy. Marked from the pillow. The bad-sleep face, the up-with-Ansh face, the I-cried-yesterday face. Most mornings before anyone else is awake, I stand in front of the mirror and meet it.

Then I reach for this.

📌 Kansa gua sha. Cool against the skin. Heavier than it looks. The metal is older than most things we still use daily — 78% copper and 22% tin, the same alloy temple bells are made of.

I am not going to tell you it changes my face. I am going to tell you it changes the five minutes after I pick it up. Slow strokes along the jaw. Up the neck. Under the eyes, gentle. The puffiness softens, eventually. But what shifts first is me.

It is the smallest ritual I have. It is also the one I have not skipped since beginning.

The kansa gua sha lives in my house. Link in bio if you’d like one in yours. 🔗

A little mukhwas moment after a long, lazy lunch at 🌿

Zarna is passing the Spice Box Mini filled with colorful fennels, spicy amla, tamarind candies, gulkand pearls, jeera balls and all things good.

If you don’t know what MUKHWAS is: it’s the colourful mix of seeded, sugar coated, tamarind infused, candied bits passed around after meals in India. Half digestive aid, half excuse to linger a little longer at the table.

Loved using Spice Box 6” for this, it didn’t just look like it’s made for it, the size was perfect for passing it around.

Chai O Clock: A desi afternoon tea experience by featuring ’s home decor, serverware (and baby 😛)

Zarna came up with this concept last year when we wanted to do soemthing together. I was 8 months pregnant when we did Chai O’Clock 1.0. It was practically our only event last year, and beyond special.

2.0 happened this event. And somehow it was even bigger and better. Fresh flowers, sorbet spring hues, thyme scented candles, bottomless masala chai, cold brews, gujju fusion menu, artisanal touches all around.

This will always be the favorite collab we do every year.

Breakdown of everything we brought from the shop

For the Table
📌 Block Printed Table Runner (launching this week)
📌 Marble Diyas (vessels for scented tea lights)
📌 Filter Coffee Cups (repurposed as flower vases)
📌 Hammered Brass Coasters

For the space
📌 Hand-embroidered cushion covers
📌 Charpayi Serving Tray in White Florals
📌 Brass Tea Strainer - Classic
📌 Spice Box 6” (for mukhwas aka mouth freshners)

For the Serveware
📌 Handpainted Indian Chai Stand
📌 Large Teak Wood Serving Board
📌 Personal Teak Wood Board
📌 Marble Flower Plate

Thank you to everyone who attended for your care, curiosity and conversation. It was a pleasure seeing you again .soul.food . And it was lovely meeting you

📌 Wellness of Kansa

Before any piece becomes a Vaarsa product, it lives in my house first.

Kansa has been on my mind for years. I first got acquainted with it when panditji asked for kansa utensils for my wedding rituals.

As I dug deeper, I learned that the metal is older than most of the things we still use daily. A copper alloy, believed to be sacred in Ayurveda, it can be used for everything from cookware to drinkware to wellness.

I have five pieces of this in my London home right now.

⭐️ the gua sha face massager I use most mornings
⭐️ the ghee pot by my stove
⭐️ the tumblers I drink water from overnight
⭐️ the wand I keep on my dresser for lymphatic drainage
⭐️ the weaning plate Ansh ate from when he started solids

This month, I’m walking you through each one. Not as products. As things I already live with. Because if I can’t tell you why something is in my house, I have no business asking why it should be in yours.

With love,

Missed UK Mother’s Day in March? This is a second chance.

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day in India, and there’s no better day to launch this. A candle made by a daughter.

We met her in Uttarakhand. A candlemaker running a small business from her home while caring for her mother through illness.

She pours soy wax into hand-beaten brass bells forged by Lohar smiths down the road, the same community that has shaped temple bells in those hills for generations.

The bells are the kind you reach up and ring on the way into a Himalayan courtyard. We are bringing them into your home as candles, refillable, scented, built to outlast the wax.

A gift made by a daughter, for the mothers in your life. The Himalayan Bell Candle. £27. Link in bio.

Royal Mail couldn’t get the address right.

This is the “glamorous” side of running a small business nobody talks about. Walking across London with a black box in hand because someone ordered something handmade from India and they’re going to get it today. Royal Mail or not.

Girl, if you want a Vaarsa piece at home, I got you.
