Today was a back breaker at Franks Gallery. I had a 8am start at the barbershop - Project Barber - and it is now 10pm... and it is a wrap.

Fortunately, a good friend popped in to give me some moral support and before he knew it, I gave him a paintbrush and he was firing away like a real trooper - helping me for a good 9 hours.

I don't know what I would've done without him today. It was so lovely to have company and a very skilled helping hand.

We're almost at the end of this project. So, watch this space. The before and after photos will soon hit your screen.

It's an exciting day for Frank's Gallery. I'm doing my first commercial property - a barber shop, which is right up my alley. My first job is to spruce up the client washroom, which is a Victorian outhouse - from back in the days when toilets were kept outside. It won't be a complete makeover because the owner wants to keep some of the rustic character. Nonetheless, with a few small changes it will definitely look much better than what it does now.

It’s the little things.

A homely interior isn’t always about buying something new. Sometimes it’s about looking at what you already have and seeing its potential.

I picked up these three bamboo storage boxes for under £10 and gave them a quick makeover with leftover fabric samples from a previous project.

A little fabric, a little imagination and suddenly something ordinary becomes a small focal point.

And honestly, these are the perfect kind of projects for a Sunday afternoon. Instead of spending hours binge-watching another series, get stuck into something creative. Engage with your environment. Make something. Change something.

Because part of what makes a house a home is the relationship you have with it... and these storage boxes now adds a bit of colour to my work desk... just the way I like it.

Since the school holidays ended, Frank’s Gallery has hit the ground running, and I’ve been busy ever since.

One of my most recent projects was a bedroom in a 1930s council flat.

The room was in desperate need of a spruce-up. It hadn’t had a fresh coat of paint in decades, and the walls and ceiling were beginning to show some serious cracks.

But with a little TLC, it was transformed.

I thoroughly sanded the walls, repaired the cracks in both the walls and ceiling, and finished everything with a warm, earthy sand-toned paint. The result is a room that feels almost brand new.

The room’s architecture and remaining original features lent themselves perfectly to a combination of minimalist and mid-century furnishings, creating a space that feels both contemporary and sympathetic to the building’s character.

A year ago, a regular client asked me to renovate his dilapidated Victorian garden shed.

It turned out to be one of my favourite projects of last year.

This year, as part of the contingency service I provide with the outdoor spaces I build and repair, I went back to check that the roof I rebuilt was still watertight and ready for the winter ahead.

While I was there, I gave the neighbouring shed a little spruce up, painting it in the same colours as its Victorian neighbour - making sure that tiny spots of added detail created a cohesive visual impression.

I also added a simple footpath with stepping stones and pebbles, a few well-placed pot plants, and gave the existing flower beds and hanging baskets a bit of attention.

What was once a forgotten corner at the back of the garden has now become a lovely little spot. Somewhere quiet to sit, reflect, or simply enjoy.

Outdoor spaces deserve just as much care and attention as the inside of your home. A garden shed doesn’t have to be something you hide away. With a little imagination, it can become a real focal point and add a bit of magic to your garden.

One of my seasonal rituals is rearranging my house before a new season starts... and right now, autumn is slowly coning closer.

My friends always laugh because they never quite know what my home is going to look like when they visit. I’m always moving things around, changing little corners and giving familiar pieces a new place.

A few small changes can completely alter the atmosphere of a room. It keeps things fresh, and it also makes me rediscover all the things I’ve collected and loved over the years.

This is my latest little corner. One chair, three pieces of art, a plant I’ve had for years, and other bits and bobs that have followed me from home to home.

Nothing new. Just rearranged so that together they tell a new story.

I’m a big fan of furniture that serves more than one purpose.
