50 years apart. One unforgettable tradition.

To celebrate our 50th birthday, we recreated one of the most iconic moments from Alfies’ opening day in 1976, as the Pearly Kings & Queens of London once again arrived in full regalia by horse and cart.

Looking back at the original photographs alongside these new ones is a wonderful reminder of London’s enduring traditions and the remarkable community that has surrounded Alfies for five decades.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Pearly Kings & Queens of London for helping us bring history back to life, and to Sonny Hillier Horsedrawn for providing the beautiful horse and carriage that made it all possible.

We’re still not over it...🎂

Looking back at these photos from the 9th of July has us wishing we could do it all over again (and maybe sneak another slice of birthday cake!).

It was such a joy to celebrate 50 years of Alfies.
Here’s to another 50 years of discoveries and extraordinary antiques.🪩🪩

Our 50th Birthday simply wouldn’t have been the same without the incredible people and partners who brought the evening to life.

A massive thank you to our friends at JUBEL for keeping the refreshments flowing.

The night was made even more unforgettable thanks to our incredible lineup of talent:

A huge thank you to Holly Penfield for filling Alfies with energy, warmth, and truly stunning vocals throughout the evening.

Thank you to & Herbsxspices🌶️ for keeping everyone smiling (and cool!) with delicious treats.

To Arina Brovanova for the beautiful classical cello performances, Paul for the wonderful guitar, the fantastic Burgundy Street Stompers for bringing New Orleans jazz to our halls, Yaz Fentazi for the mesmerising sounds of the oud, and Stephen from Twisted Fork Magic for amazing guests with his brilliant close-up magic.

WARNING: Side effects of visiting Alfies may include...

- Losing track of time.

- Saying, “I’m just having a look,” before leaving with a hefty armful of antiques.

- Temporary time warp, exiting 2026 and stepping into 1976.

- An overwhelming urge to start a collection.

- BEWARE of the SHARK.

Here’s to good company, great conversations and even greater finds.
