Summer strips away the usual constraints.

Bright colour, flowers, sun. Nobody asks why you’re wearing yellow in July. I design homes to bring that feeling inside, and keep it there all year round.

How do you bring summer into your home once the season’s over? Tell me in the comments.

Ease is intentional. Make it on purpose.

Mismatched placemats, a self-serve bar, flowers cut low enough to see the person across the table. Every piece of it is deliberate, the same care I bring to a client’s home. The full table setup, the sourcing, and the dinner party playlist are up on my Substack. Link in bio.

Colour is emotion. Use it to create a feeling.

Blue feels calm and clean, which is why it was my go-to for this bathroom. I started with a moodboard before I made a single decision, because a room needs to feel right before it can look right. If yours needs the same thought behind it, DM me.

In this room, the moodboard started with the Katsura Imperial Palace. It also drew in cyanotype fern prints meaningful to the owner and a piece of shattered mirror for reflection. That’s what led the shape of this bathroom.

Marble is the cashmere of architecture.

It’s alive. Every vein tells a story. Here it is placed to mimic an architectural drawing, its own character shaping the wall.

I walk this stairway at the V&A often. It never stops being inspiring.

When the art comes first, everything else is built to support it.

We don’t source pieces to match it. We read what the work is communicating: its colour, its purpose, its mood. And build the room around that.

Quiet art gets a quiet room. Emotive art gets room to be emotive. Nothing competes with the art. Everything backs it up.

This is what we mean when we say we start with the art.

Recently I was in Seville with my girlfriends celebrating a birthday. I managed to slip away to soak in the culture and it delivered.

The Moorish architecture, the tiles, the proportions of rooms that have been lived in for centuries. It all comes back with me.

Travel is where some of my best thinking happens. What I captured this trip will find its way onto moodboards and into rooms.

This week I’ve been sourcing a dining table for a family whose home already tells a story — a grandmother’s sideboard, a photographic artwork collected in New York, a sculpture for the table. The table has to earn its place among them and function for a family and their guests.

This isn’t just a furniture decision. It’s a conversation between objects.

This is what happens before a room looks the way it does.

When every other room in the house belongs to the family, the bedroom is the one place that is entirely hers.

She wanted calm. To be enveloped in something deeply personal.

We commissioned portraits of her children - abstracted on to a watercolour wallpaper that wraps the entire room. The ceiling papered in a woven texture to deepen the stillness.

This is the room she retreats to.

These are the briefs we love.

A sense of place.
