As we close for Christmas break, we reflect on what has been a wonderful year at RTA.

Once again, the year has brought many exciting new projects and the opportunity to work with fantastic clients. We had the opportunity to take part in Practice Open Doors, we were honoured to be included in this year’s Country Life Top 100 Architects and Designers, and we proudly celebrated our practice’s 20th anniversary, a significant milestone. We also marked our Office Manager’s own 20 year anniversary with the practice.

We look forward to carrying this momentum into 2026 with our dedicated team continuing our hard work and passion for designing beautiful homes and spaces for our current and future clients.

We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful New Year.

We are a small, friendly award winning practice based in London looking for a Part 3 qualified Architect with a minimum of 3 years UK office experience for a full time office based role. Our focus is mainly on Listed residential buildings but our portfolio also includes conservation work. If you have a passion for the work we do please send us your CV.

Successful applicants will have:-

Proficiency in Technical drawings

Outstanding drawing skills

Attention to detail and a strong sense of design

Proficient use of Autocad and Sketch Up

Contract administration experience

An appreciation of classical architecture

Strong communication skills

UK based architectural practice experience

Eligible to live and work in UK

Ability to work independently accurately and swiftly and with minimal supervision

LBC granted for a Grade I Listed Building!
We are pleased to announce that consent has been given for the introduction of external solar control blinds on this early Georgian house.

External blinds were widely used from the early 18th to 20th centuries for shading and cooling. Blind hoods survive on many Georgian houses although the canvas blinds have long rotted away.

It is not known if blinds were ever installed here but we successfully demonstrated that for a house of this period and type they are a realistic might-have-been. And they are a low-energy solution! The blinds will provide significant cooling for negligible energy use (to control the blinds).

George and Matt will set off from La Gomera in the Canaries on 12th December and arrive in Antigua 40+ days later. What a way to spend Christmas and the New Year! A splendid and generous adventure!
