Yes to them! 💘And YES to the big statement piece! 💥

When discussing ideas with Brides I always advise investing in a a focal piece that's really going to earn it's value throughout the day.

I believe no matter what your budget - this is where you should focus your spend and create something that is really going to wow your guests and creates a wonderful backdrop for precious photo opportunities. Table centres can be kept light and less dominant but something like this can be a highlight throughout the day.

Looking back at these gorgeous photos by of Jordon and Jez's big day this statement piece is captured in so many of the pics - It adds so much value too the whole setting.

So there you go. A bit of advice. GO BIG BABY!

Buying Flowers. A Rant.

When buying flowers from a local shop or Florist the price is higher then the supermarkets. We're not trying to rip you off. Supermarkets don't make a profit from flowers. Their only concern is offering a one stop shopping experience stifling the livelihoods of independents.

Freddie's Flowers last and they're cheap but they're rank! Freddie isn't some creative florist crafting selections and lovingly packing boxes behind the scenes. He/they are a large corporation buying up really average flowers straight from Dutch growers for maximum profit margins and regurgitating it too you as something maybe seen as artisan. The bikes are good though. I give them that! Big up the bike delivery people!

Flower shop myths.

The greenery isn't free! Yes it might not be as big as you like but asking for it to be bulked out with a bit of Green will affect the price.
Sometimes the Greenery costs as much as the flowers. That's not to say it doesn't add value. It gorgeous - i LOVE greenery but it isn't free.

Size isn't everything. When buying flowers size really isn't the be all and end. Big and lumpy bouquets aren't elegant and and never sit in a vase nicely. Try buying a selection of considered stems that can be artfully placed in small vessels around the home. Much nicer.

One more thing.... as we approach Valentines Day... MEN listen up... this is important.... contrary to popular belief us women really aren't that keen on Red Roses! And we definitely don't like one random one stuck awkwardly in the middle of the bunch as a token ' i love you' statement.
So please do yourself a favour a go to your local florist and seek some advice and when we give it please don't ignore it.
There's plenty of other options - perhaps get something smaller and a little less basic. I promise you it will be worth it.

My rant is over ( for now) and apologies for anyone irritated by it. It comes out of so much frustration from politics and greed which has forced so many i know to close their local businesses as of late.
We all like living in close proximity to a lovely bunch of local independent shops but supporting them is vital.

2022

A year for me full of some personal challenges.
A year in which i've discovered mental strength i didn't know I had, a year which i've gained insight and understanding into areas I naively thought I already had.
A year which has humbled me but a year that has also enlightened.
I've lost a few along the way but I leave 2022 so unbelievably grateful that I am surrounded by wonderful, wonderful WOMEN 🙋‍♀️
Friends, co workers and even those that are more of acquaintances that have showed me so much love and support that at times when i just start to think about it I immediately become teary.
I have a teenage daughter making her path through the sometimes tricky times of friendships with her female peers. One that's full of insecurities and comparisons that can cause so much anguish. I remember those feelings and shudder. Im so pleased that I know that in the end us women are tremendous supporters of one another - complete and utter champions of acceptance and understanding and I know she'll find that too.
So I raise a glass and toast the many women in my life... My dog walking gals, my fellow Mums, my hard as nails florists friends and my closest and dearest friends and family.
I fell and you caught me ❤️
( obviously there are a few honorary women along the way and you know who you are. BIG LOVE)

I don't usually post something like this but it feels important.

Wishing all of you the the best and most wonderful things for 2023 you're all bloody amazing! 💫

It's officially the shortest day of the year - after today it may not seem like it but the days get a tiny bit longer and a tiny bit lighter. Come on Spring i can almost feel you stirring! ( just got yo get through January/February first 😫)

So last week work got very serious and incredibly grown
🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️
Our woodland fairy scene was created from many a bits and pieces lying around the studio and i must admit it got quite addictive, if Christmas wasn't around the corner there's a strong chance i'd still be there now - maybe creating some sort of country spa retreat where the fairies could get some serious R&R.
Thanks for giving me such fun briefs. What a lucky 6 year old!
