The beginning… 🌱
I’m so excited to share the launch of my new website: www.rachelwardfloralstudio.co.uk.

A true labour of love over these past few months since completing flower school , capturing spare minutes from the realities of life looking after my little girl. I’m so proud to finally bring it to life.

The event urn 🪴

One of my favourite pieces from flower school — a natural showstopper that feels deeply rooted in the English countryside. Gathered in a way that looks effortless but is beautifully considered, keeping space for you to see every last detail, and allowing the butterflies to float through.

Created with , who I soon discovered shares my love of fashion, flowers, and the charm of the Cotswolds. With so much common ground, this urn became a (not so) little homage to the place that inspires us both.

It’s safe to say the past five weeks since leaving flower school have been a little chaotic…

The building work’s running behind, the house is upside down, we haven’t had a sitting room for over three weeks, we moved out for two, and my little girl has suddenly decided she’s part mountain goat…So flowering has had to take a bit of a back seat — and truthfully, that’s left me feeling a little flat.

But this morning, something shifted. I woke up with a need to make something — to create with my hands again. So I headed to the .nurseries annual PYO dahlia field. Yes, there was a storm. Yes, it was raining. And yes, I was the only one there because of it!

But honestly? It was pure joy. Wandering through rows of British-grown dahlias, each one with its own personality — frilly, spiky, curvy, chic — all of them shouting look at me! I could have stayed there for hours.

Back at home, I gathered them into my Constance Spry vase (from the wonderful ), adding beeblossom, statice, verbena and jasmine.
A wild, joyful mix of colour and texture — full of movement and a little unruly, just how I love them.

Finally, a moment of calm amongst the chaos 🌸

(And yes, I did indeed use the bare plastered wall as my backdrop 😂)

Celebrating life 🌿

Farewell flowers, in my mind, should always represent love — love for a beautiful soul who will forever be missed, but never truly lost.

They should speak of gratitude. Gratitude for a person who brought so much joy to family and friends.

They should hold memories. Memories that will live on, quietly blooming in our hearts.

And most importantly, they should reflect the person. Through colour, through design, through the senses, through every carefully chosen flower.

This arrangement carries the comforting scent of roses and stocks, the structure of lupins, with Orlaya, corncockles and poppies dancing lightly around them, and the gentle softness of lamb’s ear to touch — a garden gathered basket to say thank you, and goodbye, with love 🤍

A beautiful, broken natural arch 🌿

Tucked away in the enchanting gardens of Levens Hall, this old stone arch was quietly waiting for a little glow-up. This one was a true team effort — we mapped out the mechanics then planned the shape and flow, letting the design grow.

We layered up a lush base of greens: wild carrot, ferns, beech and hostas, then added zingy notes of astilbe and scabiosa to bring freshness, while rambling purple clematis danced through to finish it off.

It looks like it’s been growing there for years, don’t you think? 🌱✨

T H E S P I R A L H A N D - T I E 💐

The much-needed rain down south today had me thinking back to all the dramatic downpours we had in Kendal during flower school — those sudden showers that soaked us through but somehow made the flowers feel even more alive.

They’re a reminder that nature rarely stays neat or predictable. A lot like the spiral hand tie! You start with an idea of how it should look — balanced, tidy, just so — and then the flowers slip, shift, change places… all to surprise you with their different personalities, shining through exactly where they choose to settle.

This one holds the last of the peonies for the season — a fleeting favourite that’s already had its moment down south, only to bloom for me all over again up in Kendal. I feel so lucky to have caught their second act: ruffled, open, and doing exactly as they please.

Here’s to embracing the wonky stems, the stubborn blooms, and the wild little gestures that make each hand tie feel alive.

🌸 Gathered with:
Peonies, Icelandic poppies, astrantia, corn cockle, nepeta, ranunculus, snapdragon, orlaya, geranium, foxglove and linaria.

Nature’s backdrop 🌿

Reflecting on this ombré effect natural installation this morning. Floral design doesn’t need lots of hidden structures behind it, it simply needs simple mechanics that help to elevate the blooms. And even better if the mechanics can be part of the installation itself!

The peonies, ranunculus, and roses in this piece look perfectly in place on the branch of the beech tree, and I can just imagine a wedding couple standing in front of it to capture lifetime memories 🌸

FLOWER POWER ✌🏻

Not my usual style, but she sure makes me smile in this heatwave sunshine!

I was not anticipating the intricacy of wiring for a flower crown - it was so detailed! I loved learning how to strengthen these delicate blooms though, giving them each a strong hidden core that allows you to manoeuvre them without losing their natural blouse-y personalities 🌾

Each and every bloom in this crown is of course British 🇬🇧 It’s every week at !
