Well I know I’ve been a little quieter on this little app recently. There is an overwhelming amount of work to do here and knowing where to start is tricky, especially looking forward to Spring, which also means land, planting plans and livestock! So here is just some of what I’ve been trying to do/ set in motion over the past couple of weeks… There is so much to tackle inside and out, it’s hard to prioritise as everything seems to have a knock on effect, and of course working on everything ourselves and around jobs means we only have a certain amount of time in the day! But I wanted to share a little of what’s going on in my brain (and therefore what we’re working on!) currently… water, planting, pigs šŸ–, kitchen garden, stars ✨, interiors, greenhouse dinners and painting colour palettes…

Your guess is as good as mine as to which will happen first…. But just keep cheering me on so I don’t stop please šŸ˜‚

Swipe through to see my sunny Sunday… we’ve finally got a few pieces of my plate collection up on the fireplace!

It’s been a week of digging up wild snowdrops from the woodland and thinking about the next steps in this room. I’ve been focusing on the floor this week (yes you can still zoom in to see those wonderful brown carpets if you wish!) and I, to be honest, feel rather undecided! A trip to the design centre this week will surely help me focus a little more, but really, my gut is telling me to go for small, rustic tiles… think farmhouse cobbles rather than large cotswold stone slabs. It’s exciting to see how differently we live in this house, and what the layout of downstairs means (and its teeny tiny size!) for the flooring…

Also in the pipeline for this room is window dressings and a logburner. Our heating has currently packed up, so the latter feels like a decision that I need to make relatively quickly(!) but there is no rush for the rest… although the next interior project is also looking imminent so really I’d like to finish this little refresh before moving onto the next…. But when does that ever happen, really? šŸ„“šŸ˜‚

(P.S. The music of course has nothing to do with this apart from the fact I’m teaching it to myself on my violin currently and LOVING IT šŸŽ» who’s started watching?!?!)

Hope you’ve had a lovely, cosy Sunday
Love Emma ###

Winter found us ā„ļøšŸ¤ Wrapped in wool, layered skirts and frost, I’m stepping into our first winter here on the farm. Dressed for the cold (and a part in Little Women šŸ˜‰) amongst the crisp air, quiet Cotswolds fields, and the thrill of witnessing a new season unfold here for the very first time (swipe to the end to see the snow fall!)

Yesterday I was wrapped in pieces created by my wonderful friend Leah and as they brought me together with an inspiring circle of women to share creativity, warmth, and love… It was truly a reminder of how deeply clothing can carry storytelling, meaning and connection for all of us. See more of the day over on stories now! ###

All I want for Christmas, is you šŸ‘†šŸ»WE DID IT!

When we started ripping out the fireplace five weeks ago, I couldn’t have dreamed it would look anything like this. We had no idea what we’d find, no idea how much work it would be, and completely hadn’t even thought about Christmas and this being our only room downstairs!

It’s been a journey, and so much more than just a quick re vamp. It’s been a full on restoration. An insight into history and what was once here… and a chance to literally rebuild the past, to make it something we can enjoy for years to come…

Yes, we still have a lot to do in here. The snazzy carpets are still there, along with skirtings that still need painting, and the case of sorting out which sort of fire to go for (we were thinking of a kogburner but now really like the idea of keeping it open!) BUT isn’t it just a testsment to what colour (and a huge amount of love and hard work!) can do? This was never meant to be a full room re design. We have kept everything that we had in here, which we brought with us from the cottage. We haven’t bought anything new apart from the reclaimed lintel, few blocks of reclaimed stone and the paint. We plan on extending one day so we wanted to do this as sustainably (and cost friendly) as possible… and my goodness what a difference these little things have made….

That being said…. I still REALLY can’t wait to change the flooring šŸ˜‚ Do swipe to the end if you need a reminder of what it looked like five weeks ago!

Hope you love it as much as we do. Thank you for following me along from the reclamation yards and through the dust…. Settling down here for Christmas now, and wishing you a very merry one indeed.

Lots of love

Ad Follow the path that leads to the woodland and you will stumble across this rather sweet little Cotswold stone shed nestled into the tress. When we moved in it felt rather exciting to find this little space, tucked away behind the greenhouses and raised bed, and I feel like just by being here, not necessarily changing anything but by just making use of spaces like this, we’re really breathing new life into them. It’s lovely to think about how this was a family farm for so long and how now maybe it’s come full circle again, with a new family, after being empty for so long….

The tool shed is a very pretty little space and one day soon it will be lit with a candle or two at dusk, whilst the bats flitter past as I pop our hand tools down and away after a day of work around the land. I have no idea if it has always been used for this, part of me wonders if it was maybe an outdoor loo at one point? But for now, it’s just a rather lovely, magical little space, and I feel like something out of Hansel and Gretel using it!
